Description
“Vintage half-linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen”
Vintage – a term that originally referred to the grape harvest, a special vintage with an unmistakable character. Today, it stands for the timeless beauty of bygone eras, for something special that outlasts the years. This half-linen design is aptly named: with its bohemian pattern, it combines the lightness of life with the patina of time. The ornamentation is reminiscent of hand-printed textiles from the ateliers of Marrakech to Jaipur, of caravanserais along the Silk Road, where cultures merged and new forms emerged. Gentle transitional effects allow the patterns to flow into one another as if time itself had had a hand in the process. The six color tones – from pure white to delicate sakura to deep anthracite – allow for multifaceted combinations: romantic with an ethno-influenced country house style, lively in an oriental mix of colors or restrained in Mediterranean reduction.
The advantages of half-linen
Half-linen is the clever combination of two fibers that bring their respective strengths to bear. The warp – the vertically running yarn – is made of pure cotton, the weft – woven horizontally – of pure linen. This construction is no coincidence: the stretchy cotton gives the fabric stability and pretension, while the tear-resistant linen ensures durability. The result is impressive in all seasons: On warm days, the linen content gives a pleasant feeling of coolness on the skin, while the heat-retaining properties of the cotton come into play on cold nights. The half-linen absorbs moisture quickly and wicks it away without feeling damp. The antibacterial properties of linen fibers are largely retained, while cotton reduces the characteristic creasing of linen and makes the bed linen easier to care for. At the same time, cotton is easier to dye than linen – which gives the Vintage design its vibrant color brilliance. The protective structure of the linen increases abrasion resistance, making half-linen bed linen significantly more durable than pure cotton bed linen, but at a lower price than pure linen.
Manufacturing tradition since 1853
The history of linen weaving Leitner begins in 1853, when the first looms went into operation in Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria. Five generations have passed since then, but the passion for linen and the dedication to perfect craftsmanship have remained. Embedded in the hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel, bed linen collections are created here that combine tradition with innovation. The path from local weaving mill to internationally renowned manufactory was characterized by the pursuit of excellence. The result can be seen at the most important textile trade fairs worldwide. Yet for all its internationality, Leitner remains a manufactory in the best sense of the word: manageable, personal, flexible. Special sizes for unusual beds are just as much a matter of course as individual advice. Each piece is manufactured with the aim of lasting for generations.

Care of your half-linen bed linen
Half-linen bed linen is easy to care for and develops an increasingly pleasant softness over time. Colored linen can withstand temperatures up to 60°, white bed linen up to 95°. In everyday life, 40-60° is usually sufficient for perfect cleanliness. Do not use detergents with optical brighteners – these take away the linen’s natural depth of color. Slight creasing is a quality feature of natural fibers, but is much less pronounced with half-linen than with pure linen. For smoother results: Do not load the drum more than two thirds full and select a maximum of 1000 revolutions. Iron at a medium to high level with residual moisture. Tumble drying is not recommended – air drying is gentle on the fibers and preserves quality for decades.
