What makes this piece special

Vintage half linen from Leitner Leinen combines the clarity of linen with the supple warmth of cotton. The traditional combination of strong linen weft and soft cotton warp creates a fabric that harmoniously combines stability, moisture management and a balanced sleeping climate. The half-linen conveys summery coolness and wintery comfort, absorbs moisture quickly without feeling damp and at the same time retains the antibacterial properties of linen fibers. Its smooth, natural surface develops a soft patina over time, while the cotton softens creasing and enables brilliant coloration. Available in six carefully coordinated shades and woven in a CO₂-neutral way in Austria, Vintage stands for sustainable quality, textile tradition and bed linen that combines comfort, character and suitability for everyday use in a contemporary way.

Vintage half-linen table linen from Leitner Leinen
Vintage – a term that originally referred to the grape harvest, a particular year with unmistakable character. Today it stands for the timeless beauty of past eras, for the exceptional that endures through the years. This half-linen design rightfully bears its name: with its bohemian pattern, it unites the lightness of life with the dignity of time. The ornamentation recalls hand-printed textiles from the ateliers of Marrakech to Jaipur, caravanserais along the Silk Road, where cultures merged and new forms emerged. Soft transition effects let the patterns flow into one another, as if time itself had had a hand in the making. At the set table, Vintage unfolds its full power: it transforms any table into a stage of hospitality, turning everyday meals into special moments. The six colour shades – from pure white through delicate sakura to deep anthracite – allow multifaceted stagings: romantic with ethno-inspired tableware, vibrant in an Oriental colour mix, or restrained in Mediterranean reduction.
A dining room with table and chairs.
A large white building by the roadside.
Manufactory tradition since 1853
The history of the Leitner linen weaving mill begins in the year 1853, when the first looms commenced their service in Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria. Five generations have passed since then, yet the passion for linen and the dedication to perfect craftsmanship remain. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Mühlviertel, table linen collections are created here that unite tradition with innovation. The journey from local weaving mill to internationally esteemed manufactory was shaped by the pursuit of excellence. The results are evident at the most important textile fairs worldwide. Yet for all its internationality, Leitner remains a manufactory in the truest sense: manageable, personal, flexible. Custom sizes for exceptional tables are as much a matter of course as individual advice. Every piece is crafted with the aspiration to endure for generations.

Description

“Vintage half-linen table linen from Leitner Leinen”

Vintage – a term that originally referred to the grape harvest, a special vintage with an unmistakable character. Today, it stands for the timeless beauty of bygone eras, for that special something that outlasts the years. This half-linen design is aptly named: with its bohemian pattern, it combines the lightness of life with the dignity of time. The ornamentation is reminiscent of hand-printed textiles from the ateliers of Marrakech to Jaipur, of caravanserais along the Silk Road, where cultures merged and new forms emerged. Gentle transitional effects allow the patterns to flow into one another as if time itself had had a hand in it. Vintage unfolds its full power on the table setting: it transforms every table into a stage for hospitality, turning everyday meals into special moments. The six color tones – from pure white to delicate sakura to deep anthracite – allow for multifaceted staging: romantic with ethno-influenced tableware, lively in an oriental mix of colors or restrained in Mediterranean reduction.

The benefits of half-linen for the table

Half-linen is the clever combination of two fibers that bring their respective strengths to bear. The warp – the vertical yarn – is made of pure cotton, the weft – woven horizontally – of pure linen. This construction gives the table linen exceptional properties: The stretchable cotton ensures stability when laying and draping, while the tear-resistant linen guarantees durability. The fabric feels pleasantly firm and develops a more supple feel with every wash. The linen content gives the table linen its characteristic texture and elegant drape. At the same time, linen makes the fabric dirt-repellent – liquids initially roll off before being slowly absorbed. Cotton reduces the characteristic creasing of linen and is easier to dye – which gives the Vintage design its vibrant color brilliance. The protective structure of the linen significantly increases abrasion resistance, so that half-linen table linen retains its beauty even with frequent use.

Manufacturing tradition since 1853

The history of linen weaving Leitner begins in 1853, when the first looms went into operation in Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria. Five generations have passed since then, but the passion for linen and the dedication to perfect craftsmanship have remained. Nestled in the hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel, table linen collections are created here that combine tradition with innovation. The path from local weaving mill to internationally renowned manufactory was characterized by the pursuit of excellence. The result can be seen at the most important textile trade fairs worldwide. Yet for all its internationality, Leitner remains a manufactory in the best sense of the word: manageable, personal, flexible. Special sizes for unusual panels are just as much a matter of course as individual advice. Each piece is manufactured with the aim of lasting for generations.

Care of your half-linen table linen

Half-linen table linen is robust and develops an increasingly pleasant softness over time. Colored linen can withstand temperatures up to 60°, white table linen up to 95°. In everyday use, 40-60° is usually sufficient for perfect cleanliness. Fresh stains should be rinsed out with cold water before washing. Do not use detergents with optical brighteners. The slight creasing is a quality feature of natural fibers and gives the table a casual charm. For smoother results: Do not load the drum more than two thirds full and select a maximum of 1000 revolutions. Iron at a medium to high level with residual moisture. Air drying is gentle on the fibers and preserves the quality for decades.
