Cool in appearance, yet wonderfully soft and warm against the skin, Vieb\u00f6ck’s organic linen bedding from Austria is crafted in the M\u00fchlviertel region of Upper Austria by one of the country’s oldest weaving mills. Christine Vieb\u00f6ck is the fifth generation to carry on the tradition of M\u00fchlviertel linen craftsmanship. Her fabrics are simple and pure, with classic stripes and check patterns as well as modern designs \u2013 and a great attention to detail. Out of deep personal conviction, the weaving mill is committed to environmental protection and compliance with social standards. Vieb\u00f6ck uses only high-quality linen from certified organic cultivation (kbA). European flax from France, Belgium, and the Netherlands is mechanically refined in Austria and dyed with reactive and vegetable dyes. About 30 kilometers north of Linz, in tranquil Helfenberg, lies the heart of Vieb\u00f6ck. Only European flax is used in the manufacture of their products. For centuries, the M\u00fchlviertel region was a stronghold of linen production\u2014long before \u201corganic\u201d and \u201csustainability\u201d became buzzwords, the natural processing of flax was part of everyday life here. The flax plant itself is a marvel of frugality: it requires neither irrigation nor pesticides and thrives naturally in the temperate European climate. What Franz Vieb\u00f6ck began in 1832 as a home weaving business \u2013 he spun and wove his flax himself \u2013 is now a modern company that combines tradition and innovation without ever having gone down the path of outsourcing. <\/p>\n

There is no mistaking the quality of Vieb\u00f6ck linen, as it is among the finest produced by European linen weavers. Vieb\u00f6ck is the first weaving mill in Austria and the only linen weaving mill worldwide to be awarded the GOTS and IVN BEST organic seals of approval\u2014the strictest certifications for ecological and socially responsible textile production. The entire value chain is transparent and traceable: from the flax field in France to mechanical finishing in Lower Austria to manufacturing in Helfenberg.
