Shetland Grey, linen and wool as one

In this coverlet the linen, 70 per cent of the whole, and the washed wool do not lie side by side in separate threads. They share each strand, which gives the grey melange its depth. Linen contributes coolness and resists dust, whereas wool adds volume and insulation. For that reason the coverlet suits most of the year. A 3 cm hem closes the top and bottom edges, and the selvedge sides need no further finishing. Even at 610 grams per square metre, the cloth drapes easily. Matching cushion covers come in two sizes, each with a zip and a small woollen bow. Shetland Grey is part of the Libeco throws collection.

The product

✓ Available as coverlet 260 x 240 cm and cushion covers 63 x 63 or 50 x 50 cm

✓ Material: 70 per cent linen, 30 per cent washed wool, 610 g/m²

✓ Yarn: flax and wool fibres blended before spinning, Nm 58

✓ Colour: grey

✓ Details: 3 cm hem, woollen bow, zip on the cushion covers

✓ Woven by Libeco in Belgium, carbon-neutral, Masters of Linen quality

Care

Look first at the care label stitched into Shetland Grey, because its instructions outrank any general advice on linen. With wool woven through the flax, a cool and careful wash suits the coverlet best. Moreover, a mild detergent without optical brighteners keeps the melange from turning flat and pale. Rather than the dryer, choose patience: spread the coverlet out and let it dry lying flat. Thus the heavy cloth keeps its drape, and the grey stays soft and even over the years.
