Description
“Diana half-linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen”
Diana – the name of the Roman goddess of the hunt, who became an icon of power and elegance in Art Déco. But this half-linen design tells a different story: stylized palm motifs in the glamorous tradition of Art Déco adorn the fabric. The finely worked contours lend the pattern the geometric clarity that characterized the 1920s and 1930s – an era in which ornament became modern art. The palm motifs are reminiscent of the large ocean liners of the time, of Art Deco hotels in Miami and Paris, of those years between the wars when design was characterized by optimistic modernity. In the bedroom, Diana reveals its timeless elegance: the design is neither historicizing nor fashionable, but of a class that will last for decades. The nine shades – from pure white to delicate pastel nuances such as Sakura and Delft Blue to earthy tones such as Jade and Linen – allow for a variety of interpretations: restrained in monochrome arrangements or vibrant in colorful combinations.
The advantages of half-linen
Half-linen is the result of textile intelligence: two fibers that combine their respective strengths to create a superior fabric. The warp of pure cotton provides elasticity and softness, while the weft of pure linen stands for strength and durability. This construction creates bed linen with remarkable properties: On warm days, the linen content has a cooling effect; on cool nights, the cotton retains warmth. The fabric regulates moisture naturally – it absorbs it generously and transports it away quickly without feeling damp. The antibacterial properties of linen fibers remain largely effective in half-linen, while cotton significantly reduces the characteristic linen creasing and simplifies care. The better dyeability of cotton enables the clear contours of the Diana design, which give the Art Deco pattern its characteristic precision. More attractively priced than pure linen and more durable than pure cotton, half-linen offers exceptional value for money.
Manufacturing tradition since 1853
There are crafts that will last for generations due to their timeless significance. The linen weaving mill Leitner has been one of these enduring manufactories since 1853. In Ulrichsberg in Upper Austria, nestled in the rolling hills of the Mühlviertel, fabrics of exceptional quality have been woven for five generations. What began as a regional weaving mill has developed into an internationally recognized manufactory whose collections are presented at the most important textile trade fairs. But despite its worldwide recognition, Leitner has retained its manufactory character: production remains manageable, contact with customers is personal and the response to special requests is flexible. Custom-made products for unusual bed sizes are just as much a part of the company’s philosophy as expert advice. Each piece leaves the weaving mill with the claim to accompany generations.

Care of your half-linen bed linen
Half-linen bed linen rewards uncomplicated care with increasing softness. Colored linen can be washed at up to 60°, white at up to 95°. For normal use, 40-60° is perfectly adequate. Avoid detergents with optical brighteners, which would take away the linen’s natural depth of color. A certain amount of creasing is part of natural fibers and underlines their authenticity – with half-linen, however, it is much more moderate than with pure linen. For a smoother result, we recommend a drum that is not too full (maximum two thirds) and a maximum spin speed of 1000 revolutions. Half-linen is best ironed at a medium to high temperature as long as there is still residual moisture. Do not use a tumble dryer – gentle air drying preserves the fiber quality for decades.
