Description
“Haithabu pure linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen”
Haithabu – a name that leads into the depths of Nordic history, to the roots of European trading culture in the early Middle Ages. Located on the Schlei, Haithabu was one of the most important trading towns in Northern Europe between the 8th and 11th centuries, a melting pot of cultures. This design bears the spirit of that time: clear lines instead of lavish ornamentation, geometric austerity instead of baroque opulence, powerful simplicity instead of courtly splendor. The patterning is reminiscent of early medieval weaving, of braided bands and runic symbols, of the functional aesthetics of Nordic textile traditions. Here, Scandinavian restraint and archaic power merge to create a design of timeless clarity. The colors reflect the raw beauty of Scandinavian landscapes. Haithabu transforms your bedroom into a place of Nordic serenity, where simplicity becomes the highest form of elegance.
The benefits of European organic linen
Linen is one of the oldest cultivated plants of mankind and was already highly valued in Viking times. The extraordinary properties of European linen make it the ideal fiber for bed linen: the material regulates the temperature in a natural way – cooling on warm nights and retaining heat in the cold season. This thermo-regulating effect is due to the hollow fiber structure, which traps air and absorbs moisture at the same time. Linen can absorb up to 20 percent of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp – a decisive advantage for restful sleep. The long, smooth fibers are exceptionally gentle on the skin and develop a more pleasant suppleness with every wash. At the same time, linen is remarkably robust and durable – qualities that were also appreciated by the people of the North. Leitner only uses organic linen from controlled European cultivation – sustainable and of uncompromising quality.
A tradition of craftsmanship for five generations
In Ulrichsberg, in the Upper Austrian Mühlviertel region near the Bohemian border, the weaving mill Leitner has been based here since 1853. Over five generations, the knowledge of linen processing has been preserved and refined here. What began at a time when craftsmanship was still taken for granted continues today as a manufactory with an international reputation. Leitner combines the care of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Bed linen collections are created in the workshops, where every step of the process is supervised by experienced specialists. The handcrafted character allows for individuality: special sizes for unusual beds can be realized as well as advice on design and execution. Every comforter cover and pillowcase produced bears the quality promise of a production process that is geared towards durability – bed linen that lasts for decades.

Caring for your linen bedding
Linen bed linen is easy to care for and becomes softer and smoother over time. Colored linen can withstand washing temperatures up to 60°, white linen up to 95°. For regular care, 40-60° is ideal. Use detergents without optical brighteners – these can affect the natural coloring of the linen. The characteristic creasing of linen is an expression of its naturalness and is part of its authentic appearance. For smoother results: Do not overload the washing machine and limit the spin cycle to 800-1000 revolutions. Ironing is possible, but not necessary – if desired, on the highest setting while the laundry is still slightly damp. Avoid machine drying: air-dried linen retains its quality for many years and becomes more pleasant to the touch with every wash.
