Traditional Linen Weaving in Austria's Mühlviertel

It all began in 1832 at an estate in the Mühlviertel, where Franz Vieböck spun and wove his flax himself. From this domestic weaving workshop, a flourishing business developed. A milestone was the move to Helfenberg around 1900 by Leopold Vieböck, who already ran a shop there for the family’s sought-after linen goods. The company had thus successfully made the step from craft to retail.
In the fifth generation, Christine Vieböck bears the responsibility. She combines the down-to-earth character of her homeland with visionary thinking. Carefully yet resolutely, she restructured the company without dismantling its proven foundations. She achieved a symbolic generational transition with the appointment of a new master weaver. At her side is Christoph Kobler as new managing director and partner. Together, they are leading the Vieböck Linen Weaving Mill into the 21st century with investments in modern technology – always true to the traditional values of sustainability and regionality.
