Where is your favorite place?

Everyone has a favorite place where they feel particularly comfortable.

A place to recharge your batteries, relax, and unwind.

For some, it’s the hammock in their own garden, for others a quiet bench in nature, and for many, simply their own bed.

Most of us are spending a lot more time at home right now. We think it’s time to make your home your favorite place to be! Our home should be a place where we feel comfortable and can let ourselves go. With our bedding, your home will become a place where you can be completely yourself.

The bedroom is actually one of the most important rooms in our home, as we spend a third of our lives in this room. With a few simple tricks from our chamber of secrets, you can create a wonderful favorite place to relax and feel good. We have compiled the three most important aspects and promise you that your sleep can be significantly more relaxed and restful.

The right “feel” in the bedroom

The right “feel” in the bedroom

When the lights are off, your senses become more acute and you want to feel pleasant materials. That’s why it’s so important to choose the right bedding. Refreshing fabrics such as linen, light cotton, silk, satin, seersucker in summer, sturdy linen, good cotton or cozy jersey in winter. We all know the feeling when we run our hands over really good fabrics. It just makes you feel good. Bed linen should be changed every week or two, depending on your personal preference. The body sweats a lot at night and excretes many substances. Good bed linen releases most of these substances back into the environment, but you should treat yourself to that feeling of freshness when changing your bed linen. You are welcome to change your pillow more often.

The right decoration in the bedroom

Harmony is a priority in the bedroom, because only when we truly relax and rest can we enjoy peaceful nights. Furniture that is reasonably uniform can serve as a basis. However, if you have furniture that has been assembled from different sources, you can still strive for a certain harmony. One point that is often overlooked is the visible storage space in the room. If you are constantly looking at full shelves, it is rather difficult to relax harmoniously. It can make a big difference to take this out of sight. Use the space under the bed, use (attractive) boxes, and cover shelves with decorative curtains.

Small accents often have a big impact. A few beautiful books, a candle next to them. Sparingly used fairy lights and small light bulbs can provide indirect lighting. A vase of flowers on the nightstand gives the room a fresh look. Light blankets, pictures, and pillows also create a cozy atmosphere. These are just a few thoughts and suggestions. Try them out in your favorite place!

By the way, something that is often forgotten: the bedroom is actually for sleeping. If you treat your bed like a chaise longue and also eat, talk on the phone, or spend hours watching Netflix there, there is a real danger that your body and mind will adapt to such activities in bed and no longer associate this place primarily with sleep.

Optimal air in the bedroom

The window is a key feature in the bedroom. It provides light and fresh air, which helps us relax, fall asleep, and wake up. You should find the optimal position for the bed in relation to the window. If you prefer to have the light source behind you, place the head of the bed under the window. If you prefer to look into the light when you wake up, place your bed against the wall opposite the window.

You should also ask yourself whether you want to be woken up by light or by an alarm clock. In principle, you have the option of using two types of blackout blinds in your bedroom. One is a light curtain that serves as a privacy screen, and the other is a light-absorbing roller blind. Alternatively, you can of course also use sleep masks.

The ideal room temperature is 16-18 degrees Celsius, and there should always be sufficient oxygen. This is also important to ensure that you wake up feeling rested the next morning. So ventilate regularly, preferably again 15 minutes before going to bed, or leave the window open while you sleep. Another option is to spray lavender and rose scents on your pillows to create a pleasant fragrance in your bedroom.

Music for sleeping is another wonderful field, but we will devote ourselves to that in one of our next blogs.
