Linen and cotton loops for the bath

Calistoga combines 60 per cent linen with 40 per cent long-staple cotton, washed, at a heavy 2,400 g/m². Cotton brings absorbency to the loops, while the linen fibre adds strength and dries faster than pure cotton terry. Therefore the rug copes with the damp climate of a bathroom and discourages mould. Linen is also antistatic, so dust and hair cling to it less. Because flax tears less easily than cotton, the mat outlasts conventional bath mats. Calistoga belongs to the Libeco Linen Frontier collection.

Care

Calistoga goes into the washing machine without fuss. The washing limit lies at 60 degrees for coloured linen and 95 for white; even so, a cooler programme extends the life of the fibres. Detergents with optical brighteners fade natural shades, so pick one without them. Leave the drum half empty and keep the spin moderate. Afterwards let the rug dry in the open air rather than in a tumble dryer, since over-drying can shrink linen.
