Description
“Elixir half-linen table linen from Leitner Leinen”
Elixir – the term conjures up the mysterious, those enigmatic tinctures of the alchemists that seem to be distilled from mist and moonlight. This half-linen design has precisely this mystical quality: an intricate abstract pattern covers the fabric like a misty veil that sometimes thickens, sometimes dissolves. Woven in dark threads, it creates a dark, twilight effect – perfect for candlelit dinners in the evening. In light shades, on the other hand, Elixir shines like a fresh morning mist over still waters and lends the breakfast table a poetic lightness. The design plays with light and shadow, with suggestion and concealment – a textile enigma that transforms the table into a stage of atmosphere. The ten shades range from pure white and delicate pastel nuances to earthy stone tones and powerful anthracite. Restrained in its patterning and yet not to be underestimated in its effect, Elixier harmonizes with purist porcelain as well as with expressive tableware collections.
The benefits of half-linen for the table
Half-linen combines the properties of two fine fibers to create an ideal table linen fabric. The pure cotton warp gives the fabric suppleness when draping, while the pure linen weft gives it strength and that elegant drape that enhances every table. This combination proves its worth in everyday use: the linen content makes the fabric naturally dirt-repellent – liquids roll off first and give it time to react. At the same time, the fabric regulates moisture without feeling clammy. The cotton softens the characteristic linen crease and gives the table linen the relaxed drape that characterizes modern dining culture. Cotton can also be dyed more intensively, which gives the Elixir design its subtle color gradients. The protective linen structure significantly increases abrasion resistance – half-linen table linen can withstand frequent washing and intensive use without losing its beauty.
Manufacturing tradition since 1853
There are crafts that will last for generations due to their timeless significance. The linen weaving mill Leitner has been one of these enduring manufactories since 1853. In Ulrichsberg in Upper Austria, nestled in the rolling hills of the Mühlviertel, fabrics of exceptional quality have been woven for five generations. What began as a regional weaving mill has developed into an internationally recognized manufactory whose collections are presented at the most important textile trade fairs. But despite its worldwide recognition, Leitner has retained its manufactory character: production remains manageable and contact with customers is personal. Custom-made products for special table formats are just as much a part of the company’s identity as expert advice. Every piece leaves the weaving mill with the claim to accompany generations.

Care of your half-linen table linen
Half-linen table linen is easy to care for and becomes smoother over time. Colored linen can withstand up to 60°, white up to 95°. In everyday use, 40-60° is sufficient for perfect cleanliness. Rinse out fresh stains with cold water before washing. Avoid detergents with optical brighteners. The natural creasing gives the table an authentic charm – much more moderate with half-linen than with pure linen. For smoother results: Fill the drum to a maximum of two thirds full, spin at a maximum of 1000 revolutions. Iron at a medium to high temperature with residual moisture. Air drying preserves the fiber quality for decades.
