Maora linen bedding from Libeco
Maora pure linen bedding is a design its maker speaks of with real pride. Libeco took its cue from The Belgian Towel, a design closely tied to the house, then drew Maora specifically for the bed. Muted earth tones run through the cloth in a friendly, unhurried rhythm. Because the sturdy plain weave holds its shape, the duvet cover goes into the washing machine without hesitation. Linen gives sleep a particular ease. It also counts among the more responsible fibres, and Maora raises that bar a little further.

From towel to bed, the Libeco way
Maora travels easily from bathroom to bedroom. Its source, The Belgian Towel, already belonged to Libeco, a Belgian house whose looms began working in 1858. For the bed, the designers kept the earthy palette yet chose a dense plain weave, robust and smooth, that stands up to abrasion. Recognition from the Belgian crown arrived in 2006 with the Royal Warrant. Today GOTS certification covers Maora too, which commits Libeco to the most environmentally and socially responsible production it can manage. The Masters of Linen label then adds its own assurance, since it admits only fabrics made in Europe. So a familiar towel finds a second, quieter life between the sheets.

Description

Maora, earth tones in pure linen

Libeco weaves Maora from 100 per cent washed linen, 190 grams per square metre, a heavy quality with a calm, dense surface. In a plain weave, warp and weft cross one over one, so the cloth stays smooth while it resists wear. With every wash it turns more supple. Linen also absorbs a great deal of moisture and releases it again, which keeps the skin comfortable on warm nights and cool ones alike. Libeco finishes the fabric purely mechanically, therefore it feels soft from the start and creases less. Over time the muted earth tones gain a dignified patina and settle into almost any interior. Maora belongs to the bed linen collection by Libeco.

Care

Thanks to its plain weave, Maora washes in the machine at up to 60 degrees and keeps its shape; white linen alone would take 95. A lower temperature, though, adds years to any linen. Detergents with optical brighteners do not suit it, because they bleach the earth tones out of the fibre. Load the machine generously rather than fully. Then choose a modest spin, so enough moisture stays in the cloth to soften creases. For a smooth finish, use a hot iron on the still damp fabric. Air drying suits Maora better than the dryer, which can shrink linen.
