Description
“Portofino Silk Bed Sheet by Seidenweber”
Paisley meets floral figures, interwoven in a single silk grey. Portofino combines two ornamental traditions, creating something unique. The pattern emerges almost in relief – an effect of the Jacquard technique, which works with light and shadow, not with color. A classic design that derives its elegance from its subtlety. The Italian Riviera as its namesake is fitting: Mediterranean lightness, captured in silk.
Silk – the Queen of Fabrics
Silk is certainly one of the oldest textile fibers, yet it has never been as contemporary and cutting-edge as it is today. The culture of silk has accompanied humanity for thousands of years, and this queen of fibers remains irreplaceable in the modern age. On one hand, there is its unique feel, the sense of well-being that silk creates on our skin. The organic structure of silk is almost eerily similar to that of human skin. Silk allows the skin to breathe; silk stimulates the receptors on our skin. That is why it is cool in summer and wonderfully warm in winter. And silk is a blessing – not just for people with neurodermatitis.
The Weaving Mill – The Last of Its Kind
Silk has been woven in Plauen, Saxony, since the days of the German Empire. The Plauen Silk Weaving Mill is one of the last fully integrated manufacturers in Europe – and the last to truly master the weaving of silk in Jacquard patterns. Floral ornaments, paisley designs, baroque structures: what is created here is woven, not printed. The difference lies in depth. Woven patterns interact with light; they change, they have substance. Almost a century of experience is embedded in every piece – knowledge passed down from hand to hand and preserved within the fabric itself. To touch Seidenweber bedding is to touch this history.

Care Instructions
Silk items should be washed separately, if possible inside out, on a delicate cycle without other laundry, at 30 degrees with recommended silk detergents such as Tenestar. Silk or silk blends are not suitable for tumble dryers or mangles. When drying outdoors, do not expose silk items to direct sunlight. Silk laundry can be ironed slightly damp at a maximum of 110 degrees.
– Please never spray silk with perfume or deodorant
– Please do not wash silk with bleach
– Please do not wet silk with water when ironing
– Do not rub out individual stains with water; instead, wash the entire item
– Please iron silk from the reverse side
– Please do not wring silk
Silk products can be hand-washed without damaging the silk. It is best to use a mild soap or a special silk shampoo like Tenestar. Soak the silk in lukewarm water for approximately 3-5 minutes.
Dark silk or printed silk should only be briefly washed in cold hand wash, please do not soak. It is recommended to gently move the fabric back and forth during this time.
Remove the silk from the water after a maximum of 5 minutes. Rinse the silk with cold water along with a teaspoon of wine vinegar to remove any soap residue. Then roll the silk in a dry towel to draw out the remaining liquid from the fabric. For dark or printed silk, you should use a multi-layered towel. Afterwards, please lay the silk flat and gently straighten the corners.
Silk should generally be ironed slightly damp and inside out. Do not iron silk too hot. Silk is an organic material, a protein compound – similar to our hair. Too much heat will only cause damage.
