What makes this piece special
  • Maritime tradition, Belgian-woven – Sailors Stripe evokes the sailor textiles of past centuries. 200 g/m² pure linen in twill weave
  • All-over stripes in ecru – classic, understated, and easy to combine. Inspired by Vourkari and the Greek islands
  • GOTS and Masters of Linen – double certified, CO2-neutral, produced in Belgium. Purely European organic flax
  • Robust twill weave – the diagonal weave makes the fabric particularly hard-wearing. Dries quickly, does not lint
  • Skin-friendly and breathable – linen actively regulates moisture. Pleasantly dry sleeping climate all year round

Description

“Sailors Stripe Linen Bedding by Libeco”

The Sailors Stripe Linen Bedding by Libeco is a bedding made from pure linen in twill weave. As the designer describes it: “This bedding, a twill-woven pure linen, is designed with all-over stripes in ecru. Here you find the old culture of sailor textiles – very classic. And very modern. It was designed to complement the Vourkari, but it also pairs beautifully with almost all other bedding in our range.” Certified by the environmental institute GOTS, Libeco produces this collection in the most environmentally friendly and socially responsible way possible.

European Organic Linen

Linen bedding lets your skin breathe better. When it comes to our skin, linen is the perfect fabric. Thanks to its long, smooth fibres, linen absorbs a great deal of moisture and repels dirt. Linen is an intelligent fabric because it balances temperatures. Linen provides pleasant coolness in summer and cosy warmth in winter. The long linen fibres ensure that linen bedding stays fresh much longer. The linen fabric has been treated purely mechanically and is therefore very soft and skin-friendly. Linen treated this way wrinkles less while preserving the naturalness and all the benefits of linen. Libeco is deeply committed to organic linen and absolute sustainability in all manufacturing steps, which is why creating GOTS-certified linen bedding was a logical next step.

The Weaving Mill

Libeco received the Belgian Royal Warrant in 2006 – an impressive recognition of the quality of their bedding. The “Belgian Linen” quality seal guarantees a product made according to the highest standards of sustainable production. All Libeco fabrics carry the coveted “Masters of Linen” label, which certifies that they meet the extremely high requirements of this master class and are manufactured exclusively in Europe. “Eco Line” and “Oeko-Tex” provide the assurance that Libeco fabrics are free from harmful substances and have not been chemically treated, bleached, or dyed.

As a sheet we recommend the fine linen flat sheets and fitted sheets from the Heritage collection by Libeco.

Care Instructions

Coloured linen can be washed up to 60°C, white up to 95°C. As with all materials, washing at lower temperatures extends the life of linen. Avoid detergents with optical brighteners as they bleach out natural colours. Linen needs sufficient residual moisture to prevent excessive wrinkling. Do not overfill the washing machine, and do not spin too hard or for too long. If you wish to iron linen, use the hot setting on your iron while the fabric is still slightly damp. Although convenient, avoid tumble drying linen. Over-drying may cause shrinkage.
