Description
“400TC Percale Bed Linen by Peter Reed”
400TC Percale Bed Linen by Peter Reed. Feel like royalty in bed with bed linen from the traditional English weaving mill Peter Reed. Peter Reed percale bed linen is made exclusively from specially selected, high-quality combed yarns. Before spinning, special combs remove shorter cotton fibres. This ensures that the yarns are spun only from the longest fibres of the cotton harvest. Five Row Cord with 400 threads per square inch (6.45 square centimetres).
The Weaving Mill
Since 1880, Peter Reed has been a supplier to the British Royal Household, holding the “Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen”. This title as a manufacturer of bed linen was impressively renewed in January 2008. It is an honour of which to be very proud.
Peter Reed has been producing in Lancashire since 1861 and traditionally stands for English excellence and luxury. Peter Reed is one of the few factories that has been operating in Great Britain for over a century. The founder, Peter William Reed, was a farmer in Barley on the slopes of Pendle Hill in Lancashire (where the last known witches lived).

You can order two different pillowcase styles: Standard or Oxford. Peter Reed ‘Oxford style’ pillowcases with a decorative flange are sewn throughout with traditional mitred corners. Their construction requires the assembly of three separate pieces of fabric and skilful stitching. The result is a flange that stands up at the corners when placed on the bed, unlike the common Oxford construction that can create a “rabbit ear” effect.
The unmatched long-staple length, the fine combing of the cotton, the high thread count and the special edge weaving produce an extremely soft yet durable fabric. Generous hems, cord seams, double lock stitch and safety seams for lasting durability. ‘Oxford style’ pillowcases sewn throughout with traditional mitred corners.
The cotton used to make Peter Reed bed linen comes directly from the Egyptian Nile Delta. This region, with its rich alluvial soil and natural humidity, produces a unique and lustrous cotton growth that ranks among the finest fibres in the world. Egyptian cotton is ideal for use in bed linen as it “breathes”, is dust-free and thrives with frequent washing and use.
Care Instructions
Coloured bed linen made from long-staple cotton can be washed at up to 60°C, white at up to 95°C. As with all materials, the same applies to long-staple cotton: washing at lower temperatures makes it last longer. What the material does not tolerate are detergents with optical brighteners, as they strongly bleach the colours and the fabric becomes pale. Creasing: Long-staple cotton needs sufficient residual moisture. Do not overfill the machine so the fabric can move freely, and do not spin too hard or too long. If you wish to iron, press the items on the cotton setting of your iron while they are still slightly damp.
