Vienna Percal 400TC bed linen from Peter Reed

Vienna Percal 400TC bed linen from Peter Reed. A design like the famous Viennese waltz – light-footed and sweeping. The pattern itself seems to dance around the hem of the fabric. Peter Reed percale bed linen is made exclusively from specially selected, high-quality combed yarns. Before spinning, special combs remove shorter cotton fibres. This ensures that Peter Reed yarns are spun only from the longest fibres of the cotton harvest. Five Row Cord with 400 threads per square inch (6.45 square centimetres).
Ornate vintage double bed with carved headboard and footboard, covered with Vienna Percal 400TC bed linen by Peter Reed in white and blue, in a softly lit room with plain walls, window and a black side table with vase and bowl.

The Weaving Mill

Since 1880, Peter Reed has been the supplier to the British Royal Household, holding a “Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen”. This title as a manufacturer of bed linen was impressively renewed in January 2008. It is an honour of which one can be very proud. Peter Reed has been producing in Lancashire since 1861 and traditionally stands for English excellence and luxury. Peter Reed is one of the few factories that have been operating in Great Britain for over a century. The founder, Peter William Reed, was a farmer in Barley on the slopes of Pendle Hill in Lancashire (where the last known witches lived).

You can order two different cushion covers. Standard or Oxford.
Peter Reed `Oxford style’ cushion covers with a decorative flange are sewn throughout with traditional mitred corners. Their construction requires the assembly of three separate pieces of fabric and skillful sewing. The end result is a flange that rests on the corners when placed on the bed, unlike the usual Oxford construction which can create a ‘rabbit ear’ effect.

The unrivaled long staple length, the fine combing of the cotton, the high thread count and the very special weaving of the edges result in an extremely soft but hard-wearing cloth. Generous hems, cord seams, double topstitching and safety stitching for durability. ‘Oxford style’ pillowcases sewn with traditional mitred corners throughout.
The cotton used to make Peter Reed bed linen comes directly from the Egyptian Nile Delta. This area, with its rich alluvial soil and natural humidity, produces a unique and lustrous cotton growth that is one of the best fibers in the world. Egyptian cotton is ideal for use in bed linen as it “breathes”. It is dust-free and thrives even better with frequent washing and use.

Care Instructions

Colored bed linen made of long-staple cotton can be washed up to 60°, white up to 95°. As with all materials, the same applies to long-staple cotton: it will last longer if washed at a lower temperature. What the material does not like are detergents with optical brighteners, they bleach the colors strongly and the fabric becomes light. Creasing: Long-staple cotton likes sufficient residual moisture. Do not pack the machine too full so that the fabric can move, do not spin the laundry too hard or for too long. If you want to iron it, iron the items on the cotton setting of your iron when they are still a little damp.
