Sea Island 600TC Sateen fitted sheet from Peter Reed. Feel like a queen, like a king in bed with bed linen from the traditional weaving mill Peter Reed from England. The most exclusive and expensive bed linen of all – made from the rarest cotton fabric in the world. Pure luxury: the Caribbean climate, and presumably the volcanic soils, ensure that the fibres of Gossypium barbadense grow longer, finer and in greater numbers than those of any other cotton plant. This gave rise to a unique cotton, Sea Island Cotton, from which extraordinary fabrics can be woven. Our premium fitted sheets are the foundation for a perfectly made bed – the Peter Reed fitted sheet combines functionality with natural beauty.

The Weaving Mill
Since 1880, Peter Reed has been the supplier to the British Royal Household, holding a “Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen”. This title as a manufacturer of bed linen was impressively renewed in January 2008. It is an honour of which one can be very proud. Peter Reed has been producing in Lancashire since 1861 and traditionally stands for English excellence and luxury. Peter Reed is one of the few factories that have been operating in Great Britain for over a century. The founder, Peter William Reed, was a farmer in Barley on the slopes of Pendle Hill in Lancashire (where the last known witches lived).

The Weaving Mill

Since 1880, Peter Reed has been the supplier to the English royal family, as “Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty The Queen”. This title as a manufacturer of bed linen was impressively renewed in January 2008. This is an honor to be very proud of.
Peter Reed has been manufacturing in Lancashire since 1861 and is traditionally synonymous with English excellence and luxury. Peter Reed is one of the few factories to have been operating in the UK for over a century. The founder, Peter William Reed was a farmer in Barley on the slopes of Pendle Hill in Lancashire (where the last known witches lived).

The product: Sea Island Sateen fitted sheet by Peter Reed

  • 100 % long staple Caribbean cotton
  • Soft but hard-wearing cloth
  • Thread density of 600 threads per inch (Sateen)
  • available as fitted sheet
  • Bed linen from Peter Reed is always made to measure and is only made to order for customers.

The unrivaled long staple length, the fine combing of the cotton, the high thread count and the very special weaving of the edges result in an extremely soft but hard-wearing cloth. Generous hems, cord seams, double topstitching and safety stitching for durability. ‘Oxford style’ pillowcases sewn with traditional mitered corners throughout.
The cotton used to make this Peter Reed bed linen comes directly from the Caribbean. The result is a unique cotton, Sea Island Cotton, from which unique fabrics can be woven. However, the cultivation of this variety is very laborious and the plant is sensitive. The total annual harvest of Gossypium barbadense in the British West Indies is only around 130 bales. This cotton is ideal for use in bed linen as it “breathes”, is dust-free and still thrives better with frequent washing and use.

Care Instructions

Colored bed linen made of long-staple cotton can be washed up to 60°, white up to 95°. As with all materials, the same applies to long-staple cotton: it will last longer if washed at a lower temperature. What the material does not like are detergents with optical brighteners, they bleach the colors and the fabric becomes light. Creasing: Long-staple cotton likes sufficient residual moisture. Do not pack the machine too full so that the fabric can move, do not spin the laundry too hard or for too long. If you want to iron it, iron the items on the cotton setting of your iron when they are still a little damp.
