Summer blanket
A good summer duvet is light, wicks moisture and regulates temperature — even when Central European summer nights can cool noticeably after midnight. The deciding factor is the fill material. Hefel offers summer variants in down, silk, TENCEL® and further fills, each in warmth class 1–2 at an ideal weight of 100–135 g/m².

Linen – the classic for hot nights: Linen absorbs up to 35% of its own weight in moisture and releases it quickly. The result: a dry, cool sleep climate, even at 30 °C outside temperature. As a casing material in Hefel summer duvets, linen provides additional breathability.
Cotton – the all-rounder: Lightweight cotton weaves are absorbent, skin-friendly and washable at 40 °C. Cotton feels familiar and soft from the first night — ideal for anyone not accustomed to linen’s cool touch.
Silk – luxury for the sleep climate: Silk regulates temperature like almost no other material: cooling in warmth, slightly warming when it cools down. Hefel’s Silk Dream summer duvet uses this property with a fill of 100% mulberry silk.
TENCEL® Lyocell – the modern alternative: The fibre made from eucalyptus wood pulp absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton and is fully biodegradable. In Hefel’s KlimaControl Comfort series, TENCEL® is used as both fill and casing.
Down – for those who need the cocoon: Special summer down duvets are filled with less material than winter variants yet still offer the characteristic, enveloping down feel. The down duvets of the Alaska series come as a dedicated summer variant.

Durable
Linen bedding can be washed at low temperatures and becomes softer with each wash.
Breathable
Linen bedding keeps you pleasantly cool in summer and cozy warm in winter. Bedding for all seasons.
Summer duvets are washed more frequently than winter duvets. Three basic rules: first, read the care label — recommendations vary by fill. Second, skip the fabric softener — it clogs the fibres and reduces breathability. Third, use the gentle cycle with low spin speed (600–800 rpm).
TENCEL® and cotton duvets are machine washable at 40 °C. Silk duvets belong in professional cleaning or the silk programme at max 30 °C. Tumble-dry down duvets with tennis balls to re-loft after washing. Full care tips by material at Care & Durability.
A summer duvet covers the warmest months. For the rest of the year:
The all-season duvet (warmth class 3) — the flexible all-rounder for spring and autumn, when temperatures fluctuate significantly between day and night.
The winter duvet (warmth class 4–5) — maximum warmth at minimal weight, ideal as a down or virgin wool duvet.
All duvets are from Hefel in Vorarlberg and entirely made in Austria. An overview of all models can be found in our duvets category. Pair any duvet with linen bed linen for optimal moisture regulation.
