Andros, an Aegean stripe in pure linen

Andros is pure linen, washed before it leaves the mill, so it arrives soft rather than stiff. Libeco calls the large format a pièce de lin: linen for the table that need not be anything more. It comes in three lengths, from 160 x 180 up to 160 x 325 cm. Thus a small table suits it as easily as a long one. The stripes run in generous intervals, while the fringes loosen every edge. Because natural linen forms the ground, crumbs and daylight both look at home on it. Napkins in a set of six repeat the stripe at each place. Andros joins the Libeco tablecloths collection as the lightest of its Aegean stripes.

Care

Andros will take a machine wash of up to 60 degrees. Still, a cooler programme preserves the indigo and cognac for longer. Leave out any detergent with optical brighteners, as they bleach natural colours. A loosely loaded drum gives the fringes room to move. Next, choose a short, gentle spin, since linen with some moisture left creases far less. Iron on the hot linen setting while the cloth is damp, or simply leave it softly rumpled. Keep it out of the tumble dryer, which tends to shrink linen.
