The Bio Wool mattress topper from HEFEL holds Austrian merino wool from organic animal husbandry, a filling that warms quietly and lets the body breathe. It takes up moisture during the night, so the surface beneath the sheet stays dry and even. The cover, an untreated GOTS-certified organic cotton, has known neither pesticides nor chemical brighteners. Thus the mattress gains a soft, protective layer. The bed keeps a climate that feels entirely its own.

From sheep to topper
For Bio Wool, HEFEL follows the fibre from the sheep to the finished topper and keeps the whole line ecological along the way. The family business in Austria has gathered experience over generations, and that experience shows in small decisions. Each Bio Wool topper takes shape individually, then a member of the team checks it before it leaves the house. A functional box quilting holds the merino in place, so the filling cannot drift towards the edges. In addition, the cotton for the cover grows under controlled organic conditions, without artificial fertilisers. What arrives on the mattress is therefore a piece of HEFEL craft in its most natural form.

Description

Merino wool, the filling

Merino wool cleans itself, which is why airing so often replaces a wash. The fibre absorbs the moisture a sleeper releases and gives it back to the room, while the warmth stays close. At 500 grams of wool per square metre, the topper remains gentle rather than bulky. Its fine organic cotton carries moisture outward, therefore the lying surface keeps dry. Over the years the filling holds its shape and its function, even under daily use. Bio Wool also shields the mattress from wear, quietly and without fuss. It belongs to the HEFEL mattress topper collection, as the choice for organic wool.

Care

Bio Wool regenerates in fresh air, and that is why it stays free of odour. Frequent washing is unnecessary, since a regular airing does the work. Should a mark appear, treat only that spot, and the wool stays handsome for years. When a full wash cannot be avoided, a gentle cycle at 40 degrees and drying in the open air suit the wool. The sleeping climate stays dry, so even sensitive skin rests comfortably. Night after night, the topper then guards the mattress beneath it.
