Classics Geneva linen bedding from Libeco
Geneva white linen bedding is, as its name within the Classics line suggests, the house classic. Its designer describes it simply as white linen bedding in its purest form. Nothing distracts from the cloth. Thanks to a durable plain weave, Geneva also goes into the washing machine without complaint. Linen lends sleep a particular calm, and when it comes to protecting the environment the fibre has long shown its worth. With Geneva, Libeco sets that standard a little higher still.

Organic flax, Flemish patience
For Geneva, Libeco works with organic flax from Flanders, finishes it mechanically and leaves out bleaching agents and brighteners. White, in this house, means the natural light of good linen rather than a chemical glare. The weaving tradition behind it began in Belgium in 1858. Long after, in 2006, the Belgian crown confirmed it with the Royal Warrant. Since the Classics line rests on Geneva, the mill weaves it in its densest basic cloth, robust and still supple. Masters of Linen then tests the fabric against strict criteria and ensures European manufacture. GOTS, finally, covers the whole route from field to finished pillowcase, environmental and social alike.

Description

Geneva, white linen without ornament

Geneva weighs 190 grams per square metre and is pure washed linen. In the durable plain weave, every thread alternates over and under its neighbour, which gives the cloth strength against tearing and abrasion. Yet it stays pliant. Flax fibres are long and smooth; they take up moisture quickly, and the bed feels fresh night after night. Linen balances temperature as well, cool in summer and gently warm in winter. Since Libeco treats the fabric purely mechanically, Geneva feels soft and creases less while keeping its natural character. It forms the white foundation of the Libeco bed linen collection.

Care

White Geneva withstands up to 95 degrees, whereas coloured linen should stay at 60. Even classic white linen, though, ages more slowly at lower heat. Avoid optical brighteners in the detergent, because they attack the natural tone of the fibre. Leave space in the drum. Spin at a modest speed and only briefly, so that some moisture keeps the creases soft. Iron on the hottest linen setting while the cloth still feels a touch damp. The tumble dryer is best left aside, since too much drying can make linen shrink.
