Batsi is pure linen, washed, and heavier than it looks. It lies on the table with the kind of natural composure that only linen achieves. Where the striped designs emphasise the table, Batsi changes the mood of the whole room. An autumn brunch, a candlelit dinner or a table in the garden all suit it, and the check never becomes ordinary. With every wash it grows softer, as if it had always been there. Care

Batsi accepts a wash at 60 degrees. A milder temperature, however, keeps its sienna and indigo vivid for longer. Brighteners in a detergent bleach natural tones, therefore pick one without them. Give the cloth enough room in the drum to turn. The spin should stay short and gentle, because a little dampness protects linen from creasing. For pressing, use the hottest linen setting while the check is still moist. Lastly, let Batsi dry on a line, since the tumble dryer may shrink it.
