Batsi Linen Coverlet & Pillow by Libeco
The Batsi linen coverlet by Libeco is the piece you want to lay over everything: the sofa, the bed, your shoulders on a cool evening. On a bed, its check works differently than on a table. It makes a bedroom more inviting at once, without moving a single object. Warm sienna brown, off-white and deep indigo meet in the weave, and a fine green thread runs through them all. Open fringes on every side give the cloth a loose, easy fall.

Weight, chosen with care
What sets Batsi apart from other bedspreads is its weight. Libeco gives the linen 380 g/m², heavy enough to lie on a bed without slipping. Yet it stays light enough to draw over your knees on a summer evening. The Flemish mill weaves it from pure linen in plain weave with Nm 58 yarn, then washes it. Libeco has practised this craft since 1858 and holds the Belgian Royal Warrant. Masters of Linen certifies the fabric, so its production remains European. The weaving runs CO₂-neutral, too.

Description

Batsi, a linen coverlet in warm check

Batsi looks finest with its matching pillow covers in 44 x 44 and 63 x 63 cm. On plain white bed linen, however, the coverlet makes a statement by itself. Because linen balances temperature, it serves in summer as well as in the colder months. Its long fibres absorb moisture and resist dirt. Washing softens the cloth, so it feels supple from the start. The Batsi range also includes a tablecloth and napkins in the same check. On the bed, it belongs to the Libeco coverlets and pillowcase collection.

Care

Batsi counts as coloured linen and tolerates up to 60 degrees. A cooler wash, however, keeps the check bright for longer. Skip detergents containing optical brighteners, because they bleach the indigo and the sienna. Give the coverlet space in the machine, and spin briefly at a moderate speed. Linen that keeps a little moisture creases less. Iron on the hot linen setting while it is still a touch damp. Avoid the dryer, since overdrying can make it shrink.
