The Tack Stripe linen bedding from Libeco
Tack Stripe linen bedding has a sober, responsible beauty. Its designer summed up the winter collection behind it in one word: simplicity. Pure materials, an industrial style and a restrained palette set the tone. The stripes sit on a densely woven twill of medium weight, so the cloth feels substantial yet supple. Tack Stripe also combines naturally with the Santiago White Sand bedding and with Libeco throws, which makes the bed easy to compose.

A farmer, a name, a stripe
The name honours Frans Tack, a man whose whole working life has revolved around flax. Only a short drive separates his farm from the Libeco weaving mill, deep in Flanders’ flax country. There, among retting pits and storage sheds that survive from earlier days, Libeco photographed the collection. That setting explains the industrial calm of the design better than any description. The mill itself goes back to 1858. In 2006 it received the Belgian Royal Warrant, and every fabric also holds the Masters of Linen label as proof of European production. Organic flax and GOTS certification then complete a chain that rarely leaves the Flemish flax region.

Description

Tack Stripe, an honest twill

Tack Stripe uses pure washed linen of 190 grams per square metre, woven tightly in twill. The diagonal binding lends the surface a silky gleam, and against the skin it feels cool. Moreover, flax balances warmth and moisture through the night, because its long fibres absorb and release humidity with ease. Libeco relies on purely mechanical finishing. The cloth therefore stays gentle, creases less and keeps its natural vigour. With every wash the stripe rhythm becomes livelier. It fits naturally among the Libeco bed linen designs, especially the calmer plain colours.

Care

Tack Stripe accepts 60 degrees in the wash, while undyed white linen would bear 95. All the same, a cooler cycle preserves the stripes for longer. Skip any detergent with optical brighteners; they bleach natural colour and make the cloth look tired. The drum should never be packed tight. Spin with restraint, too, because linen that keeps some moisture creases less. A hot iron on slightly damp fabric gives the smoothest result. Rather than tumble drying, which may shrink linen, let Tack Stripe dry in the open air.
