Arcadia pure linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen

Arcadia – that mythical landscape in the heart of the Greek Peloponnese, regarded since antiquity as the epitome of the idyllic. In the Renaissance, poets and painters rediscovered this region as a place of longing, as a counterworld to courtly ceremony. Shepherds graze their flocks on gentle hills, clear springs rise from the rock, ancient oaks offer shade. Here, it is not the strict order of the garden that reigns, but the serene harmony of grown nature. The Et in Arcadia ego – “I too was in Arcadia” – became a byword for perfect moments. This design translates the Arcadian vision into textile form: organic patterns reminiscent of leaves and tendrils compose themselves into a fabric that radiates tranquillity. The Jacquard technique creates a subtle relief structure that recalls the play of light and shadow in dense foliage. Arcadia transforms your bedroom into a retreat where pastoral serenity meets textile care and every night becomes a return to timeless harmony.

The Leitner Weaving Mill – Manufactory since 1853

In Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria, surrounded by the gentle rolling hills of the Mühlviertel, Leitner works according to principles that come close to the Arcadian ideal: no haste, but grown structures; no mass production, but careful handwork. For over 170 years, the manufactory has combined traditional skill with contemporary design. The designs are created in a thoughtful process: drafts are developed at the drawing board, tested in sample cards, refined until every detail is right. With designs like Arcadia and their subtle structure, precision is paramount – every thread interlacing contributes to the overall impression, light and shadow arise through minimal height differences in the fabric. The weaving mill combines manageable dimensions with state-of-the-art technology. No short-lived collections are created here, but thoughtfully conceived designs with lasting power. As a manufactory, Leitner can respond individually to wishes: custom sizes are feasible, personal advice a matter of course. Every duvet cover is crafted with the awareness that true quality need not be loud – it reveals itself in the quiet perfection of detail.

The benefits of European organic linen

The choice of material is no minor matter with a design like Arcadia. Linen, cultivated in Europe since ancient times, embodies the naturalness that also characterizes the Arcadian ideal. The flax plant thrives in a temperate climate without artificial irrigation – a modest plant that impresses with its quality. The long fibers create a fabric that cools on warm nights and warms on cool nights. This natural temperature regulation is created by the hollow structure of the linen fiber, which forms air chambers and organically balances out moisture. Linen absorbs moisture without feeling clammy – essential for restful sleep. The fiber is naturally antistatic and kind to the skin, developing more suppleness with every wash without losing its texture. The resilience of the material is remarkable: linen bed linen can last for generations, becoming softer and softer in the process. Leitner only uses organic linen from certified European cultivation – grown according to ecological principles, mechanically treated for natural softness, free from chemical additives.

Caring for your linen bedding

Linen bed linen becomes softer and more supple with every wash. Colored linen can withstand temperatures up to 60°, white bed linen up to 95°. For daily use, 40-60° is perfectly adequate and is gentle on the natural fibers. Important: Do not use detergents with optical brighteners – these can distort the natural color tones of the design. The characteristic crease structure of linen is an expression of its authenticity and is part of the material. For a smoother finish: do not overload the washing machine, limit the spin cycle to 800-1000 revolutions, shake the laundry out vigorously immediately after washing. If desired, you can iron at the highest ironing setting, ideally with light residual moisture. Do not use a tumble dryer: air drying is gentle on the fibers, preserves the structure of the fabric and extends the life of your bed linen by many years.
