What makes this piece special

Pure linen canvas from Leitner Leinen combines textile originality with the cultivated tranquillity of pure linen. The classic plain weave focuses on the natural structure of the fiber and turns its lively irregularity into a design principle – simple, authentic and with a quiet presence. Made from 100% European organic linen in a purist plain weave, plain weave combines timeless reduction with the natural benefits of the linen fiber: high breathability, excellent temperature regulation, antistatic properties and a patina that gains character over time. Available in eight carefully coordinated colors and woven in Austria in a CO₂-neutral way, Leinwand stands for sustainable quality, textile tradition and bed linen that understands conscious simplicity as the highest form of elegance.

Canvas pure linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen

Canvas – a term deeply rooted in European textile tradition. For centuries, canvas has stood for that robust quality that accompanied generations. What was once prized as peasant linen finds here a contemporary reinterpretation: the authentic texture is preserved, the distinctive structure becomes a design element. No Jacquard patterning distracts, no ornamentation overlays – instead, the linen fibre itself takes centre stage. The characteristic irregularity is not concealed but emphasised. Every thread tells of its origin, every thickening shows the vitality of natural fibres. What today seems like luxury – authenticity without compromise – was once a matter of course. This design combines tradition with conscious reduction. Canvas transforms your bedroom into a space of understated splendour, where simplicity does not mean scarcity, but the highest form of textile honesty.

Manufactory craftsmanship since 1853

In Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria, where traditional weaving techniques and contemporary ambition come together, lies the Leitner weaving mill. Since 1853, the craft of linen processing has been passed down here from generation to generation – across five generations. What began as a small weaving mill has developed into a manufactory internationally esteemed for its quality. Leitner is at home at the leading textile fairs in Paris, Milan and New York. The success is founded on the combination of traditional skill and contemporary design. No standard products are created here, but thoughtfully conceived collections in which artisanal precision and design ambition come together. With purist qualities like Canvas, true mastery reveals itself: where nothing conceals the fibre, every step of the process must be perfect. As a manufactory, Leitner can respond individually to wishes: custom sizes for exceptional beds are feasible, personal advice a matter of course. Every duvet cover, every pillowcase is crafted with the awareness that true quality should endure – for decades to come.

No jacquard patterning distracts, no ornamentation is superimposed – instead, the linen fiber itself comes to the fore. The characteristic irregularity is not concealed, but emphasized. Every thread tells of its origin, every thickening shows the vitality of natural fibers. What seems like luxury today – authenticity without compromise – was taken for granted. This design combines tradition with deliberate reduction. Canvas transforms your bedroom into a room of restrained splendor, where simplicity does not mean lack, but the highest form of textile honesty.

The benefits of European organic linen

Nothing shows the true quality of linen as clearly as a purist finish. The exceptionally long fibers of European flax give the fabric its characteristic strength and silky softness at the same time. Linen is an intelligent material: it regulates its own temperature – cooling when it is warm, warming on cool nights. This natural climate regulation is due to the hollow fiber structure, which traps air and absorbs moisture. Linen can bind considerable amounts of moisture, which ensures an optimal sleeping climate. The smooth fibers are extremely skin-friendly and become more supple with every wash. At the same time, linen remains remarkably resistant. Leitner relies exclusively on organic linen from certified European cultivation – sustainably produced and of uncompromising quality.

Caring for your linen bedding

Linen bed linen is easy to care for and becomes more supple with every wash. Colored linen can withstand temperatures up to 60°, white linen up to 95°. In daily use, 40-60° is completely sufficient for perfect hygiene. Important: Do not use detergents with optical brighteners – these can impair the natural color depth of the linen. The characteristic slight creasing of linen is an expression of its naturalness and is part of the authentic material. For smoother results: Do not overfill the washing machine, limit the spin cycle to 800-1000 revolutions. If desired, you can iron at the highest ironing setting, ideally with light residual moisture. Do not use a tumble dryer: air drying is gentler, preserves the fiber quality and considerably extends the life of your bed linen.
