Etienne, a heavy coverlet with ginger stripes

Etienne is pure linen, washed and heavy at 460 g/m², woven plain from Nm 58 yarn. A centre seam joins the cloth, and fringes finish the top and bottom. The lower of the two stripes also returns on the cushion. Because linen manages moisture and warmth, the coverlet feels cool in summer and comfortable in winter. It also grows softer with every wash. Care

With its ginger and black stripes, Etienne counts as coloured linen and therefore goes into the wash at 60 degrees at most. The lower the temperature, the longer it lasts. Optical brighteners would bleach its natural tones, so pick a detergent free of them. Load the drum loosely, because the cloth needs room to move. Then spin with care and not for long. Linen that keeps some residual moisture creases far less. Iron hot, preferably with some dampness left in the cloth. Finally, the dryer is no place for it, since it could shrink there.
