The Jungle linen table setting from Geniksa has character, and it shows in the colour first. A dark, saturated brown lets the structure of the flax come forward, so every thread seems slightly more present than in a paler cloth. Warm earth tones of this kind make a table feel settled before anyone sits down. There is Scandinavian restraint in it, too. The napkins and placemats simply wait, unhurried, for the evening to begin.

Earthy brown from the Baltic
Geniksa keeps its style deliberately plain. Behind that choice stands a love of nature and the conviction that pure linen needs nothing added, since its look and feel speak for themselves. For Jungle, that plainness turns towards depth: a single brown, carried by heavy cloth from the Baltic coast. The flax comes exclusively from European cultivation. Moreover, the Masters of Linen label, which every Geniksa fabric holds, assures European manufacture and close testing. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and Eco Line add their own assurance, namely freedom from harmful substances. The mill also produces CO₂-neutrally, so even a dark table leaves a light footprint.

Description

Jungle, a table setting in deep brown linen

Jungle consists of 100 per cent washed linen, 240 g/m² heavy and spun to Nm 26. Such weight makes the placemats lie quietly, and the napkins fold with firm edges. Deep brown linen also suits the everyday table, because the dense fibre repels dirt. With each wash, the cloth softens further. Paired with pale ceramics or natural wood, the brown gains warmth, and beside the Jungle tablecloth it forms a whole. Further colours wait in the Geniksa placemats collection, should you wish to mix.

Care

Coloured linen such as Jungle washes at up to 60 degrees, while white linen would take 95. Even so, a cooler programme helps the brown last. Choose a detergent without optical brighteners, since they draw colour out of the fibre and leave it faded. Fill the machine only loosely, and keep the spin short and gentle. Residual moisture is what keeps linen from creasing hard. If you want pressed napkins, use the hot linen setting while they are still slightly damp.
