What makes this piece special

Marais half-linen from Leitner Leinen combines Parisian bohemia with the cultivated calm of natural fibers. The artfully woven jacquard design combines classic ornamentation from the archive with modern design language and creates a fabric that hovers between Belle Époque and contemporary design. Made from 50% linen and 50% cotton in a finely balanced half-linen jacquard weave, Marais combines cooling freshness and supple warmth with high moisture regulation, natural smoothness and a patina that gains character over time. Available in twelve carefully coordinated shades and woven in a CO₂-neutral way in Austria, Marais stands for sustainable quality, textile tradition and bed linen that harmoniously combines urban elegance and casual sophistication.

Marais half-linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen
Marais – the historic quarter of Paris, where once marshland became the centre of art and bohemia. The name stands for that creative energy which fuses old and new, classicism and avant-garde. This half-linen design carries exactly this spirit: from the archive of classical ornaments, a pattern was chosen and combined into contemporary form. The result is a design of remarkable versatility – classical enough for traditional interiors, modern enough for urban spaces. The ornamentation recalls Art Nouveau elements, the décors of the Belle Époque, yet the interpretation is clearly contemporary. In the bedroom, Marais unfolds a touch of bohemia, of that effortless elegance that characterised Parisian ateliers. The twelve colour shades – from pure white through delicate sakura to earthy stone tones and powerful anthracite – allow multifaceted interpretations: minimalist in restrained tones or expressive in luminous colours.

Manufactory tradition since 1853
Since 1853, the art of linen weaving has been cultivated in Ulrichsberg. What began as a local manufactory in the Upper Austrian Mühlviertel has developed over five generations into an internationally recognised weaving mill. The Leitner family has never lost touch with artisanal tradition: even today, people are placed above machines, quality above quantity. Leitner presents its collections at the most important textile fairs worldwide – yet the manufactory remains manageable and personal. The flexibility to respond to individual wishes, to produce custom sizes and to advise competently distinguishes Leitner to this day. Every piece is crafted with the aim of enduring not just a season, but generations. This attitude is reflected in the choice of materials, the workmanship and the dedication with which every fabric leaves the weaving mill.

Description

“Marais half-linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen”

Marais – the historic district of Paris, where marshland once became the center of art and bohemia. The name stands for the creative energy that fuses old and new, classic and avant-garde. This half-linen design carries exactly this spirit: A pattern was selected from the archive of classic ornaments and combined to create a contemporary form. The result is a design of remarkable versatility – classic enough for traditional interiors, modern enough for urban spaces. The ornamentation is reminiscent of Art Nouveau elements and the décor of the Belle Époque, but the interpretation is clearly contemporary. In the bedroom, Marais exudes a touch of bohemia, of the informal elegance that characterized Parisian ateliers. The twelve shades – from pure white and delicate sakura to earthy stone tones and powerful anthracite – allow for multifaceted interpretations: minimalist in restrained tones or expressive in bright colors.

The advantages of half-linen

Half-linen combines the properties of two natural fibers to create a harmonious fabric. The pure cotton warp provides elasticity and softness, while the pure linen weft guarantees robustness and durability. This sophisticated construction creates bed linen with exceptional climatic properties: The linen content has a cooling and refreshing effect on warm days, while the cotton retains pleasant warmth on cool nights. The fabric regulates moisture in a natural way – it absorbs it generously and wicks it away quickly without feeling clammy. The antibacterial properties of linen fibers are largely retained in the half-linen, while the cotton significantly reduces the characteristic linen creasing and simplifies care. At the same time, the better dyeability of cotton enables the richly nuanced color palette of the Marais design. Much more attractive in price than pure linen, half-linen clearly outperforms pure cotton bed linen in terms of durability and longevity.

Manufacturing tradition since 1853

The art of linen weaving has been cultivated in Ulrichsberg since 1853. What began as a local manufactory in the Upper Austrian Mühlviertel region has developed over five generations into an internationally recognized weaving mill. The Leitner family Leitner family family has never lost touch with traditional craftsmanship: Even today, people are still placed above machines, quality above quantity. Leitner presents its collections at the most important textile trade fairs worldwide – but the manufactory remains manageable and personal. The flexibility to respond to individual wishes, to produce special sizes and to provide expert advice still characterizes Leitner today. Each piece is manufactured with the aim of lasting not just one season, but generations. This attitude is reflected in the choice of materials, the workmanship and the dedication with which each fabric leaves the weaving mill.

Care of your half-linen bed linen

Half-linen bed linen is easy to care for and becomes smoother with every wash. Colored linen can be washed at up to 60°, white at up to 95°. For normal use, 40-60° is sufficient. Avoid detergents with optical brighteners, which take away the linen’s natural depth of color. A certain amount of creasing is part of natural fibers and underlines their authenticity – with half-linen, however, it is much more moderate than with pure linen. For a smoother result, we recommend a drum that is not too full (maximum two thirds) and a maximum spin speed of 1000 revolutions. Half-linen is best ironed at a medium to high temperature as long as there is still residual moisture. Do not use a tumble dryer – gentle air drying preserves the fiber quality for decades.
