Plain half-linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen (Article 32)
Plain – the name says it all: no patterns, no ornaments, just the pure beauty of the fabric itself. Yet what appears simple at first glance reveals a fascinating complexity on closer inspection: the natural structure of the half-linen creates a lively surface that plays with the light. Now matt, now shimmering with a silken sheen, the fabric changes its appearance according to the time of day and the angle of light. This timelessly elegant plain quality is the textile equivalent of fine architecture – reduction to the essential without losing presence. The finely textured surface underscores the natural texture of the half-linen, making the blend of linen and cotton visible and tangible. In the bedroom, this plain fabric unfolds its calming clarity: it fits into any furnishing style, from purist-modern to classic-traditional. The five classic colour shades – white, fir, terra, stone, anthracite – are carefully chosen: earthy, timeless nuances that never go out of fashion and can be effortlessly combined.
A bed with a brown blanket and pillows.
A large white building by the roadside.
Manufactory tradition since 1853
The history of the Leitner linen weaving mill begins in the year 1853, when the first looms commenced their service in Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria. Five generations have passed since then, yet the passion for linen and the dedication to perfect craftsmanship remain. Nestled in the rolling hills of the Mühlviertel, bed linen collections are created here that unite tradition with innovation. The journey from local weaving mill to internationally esteemed manufactory was shaped by the pursuit of excellence. Leitner Leinen is renowned for its elaborate and intricate patterns, yet even in its plains, the full art of weaving is reflected. The results are evident at the most important textile fairs worldwide. Yet for all its internationality, Leitner remains a manufactory in the truest sense: manageable, personal, flexible. Custom sizes for exceptional beds are as much a matter of course as individual advice. Every piece is crafted with the aspiration to endure for generations.

Description

“Uni half-linen bed linen from Leitner Leinen (item 32)”

Uni – the name says it all: no patterns, no ornaments, just the pure beauty of the fabric itself. But what appears simple at first glance reveals a fascinating complexity on closer inspection: the natural structure of the semi-linen creates a lively surface that plays with the light. Sometimes matt, sometimes with a silky shimmer, the fabric changes its appearance depending on the time of day and the incidence of light. This timelessly elegant plain quality is the textile equivalent of good architecture – reduced to the essentials without losing its presence. The finely structured surface emphasizes the natural texture of the half linen, making the combination of linen and cotton visible and tangible. In the bedroom, this plain fabric unfolds its calming clarity: it blends in with any furnishing style, from purist-modern to classic-traditional. The five classic shades – white, fir, terra, stone and anthracite – have been carefully selected: earthy, timeless nuances that never go out of fashion and can be effortlessly combined.

The advantages of half-linen

Half-linen is a textile alliance in which two fibers combine their strengths. The warp of pure cotton provides stretch and softness, while the weft of pure linen stands for tear resistance and durability. This intelligent construction creates bed linen with remarkable properties: On warm days, the linen content has a cooling and refreshing effect; on cool nights, the cotton stores cozy warmth. The fabric absorbs moisture generously and transports it away quickly without feeling damp – a natural climate balance that promotes restful sleep. The antibacterial properties of linen fibers remain largely effective in half-linen, while cotton significantly reduces the distinctive linen crease and simplifies care. With a plain weave, the natural beauty of the fibers comes into its own – without distracting patterns, the quality of the material is revealed in all its purity. Priced between pure linen and pure cotton, half-linen offers exceptional value for money with significantly greater durability than pure cotton bed linen.

Manufacturing tradition since 1853

The history of linen weaving Leitner begins in 1853, when the first looms went into operation in Ulrichsberg, Upper Austria. Five generations have passed since then, but the passion for linen and the dedication to perfect craftsmanship have remained. Embedded in the hilly landscape of the Mühlviertel, bed linen collections are created here that combine tradition with innovation. The path from local weaving mill to internationally renowned manufactory was characterized by the pursuit of excellence. Leitner Leinen is known for its unusual and elaborate patterns, but its plain fabrics also reflect the entire art of weaving. The result can be seen at the most important textile trade fairs worldwide. But despite its internationality, Leitner remains a manufactory in the best sense of the word: manageable, personal, flexible. Special sizes for unusual beds are just as much a matter of course as individual advice. Each piece is manufactured with the aim of lasting for generations.

Care of your half-linen bed linen

Half-linen bed linen is easy to care for and develops an increasingly pleasant softness over time. Colored linen can withstand temperatures up to 60°, white bed linen up to 95°. In everyday life, 40-60° is usually sufficient for perfect cleanliness. Do not use detergents with optical brighteners – these take away the linen’s natural depth of color. Slight creasing is a quality feature of natural fibers, but is much less pronounced with half-linen than with pure linen. For smoother results: Do not load the drum more than two thirds full and select a maximum of 1000 revolutions. Iron at a medium to high level with residual moisture. Tumble drying is not recommended – air drying is gentle on the fibers and preserves quality for decades.
