Propriano, an eggshell linen coverlet

Propriano is 100 per cent linen, washed, in a substantial 420 g/m² that falls with ease. Its yarn is a fine Nm 58 in plain weave. Linen balances temperature naturally, so the coverlet cools in summer and warms in winter. It also takes up moisture well and resists dirt, which keeps care simple. Unlike a cotton blanket, it stays cool against the skin and dries quickly. In the warmer months especially, it offers a light layer that cools rather than heats. Care

White linen tolerates 95 degrees and coloured linen 60. With its stripes of decorative yarn, Propriano is safer at the lower of the two limits, and cooler still lengthens its life. Leave out optical brighteners, as they drain the natural tone from the cloth. Allow space in the drum, then spin gently and not for long. The coverlet creases less when it keeps some moisture. Iron on the hot linen setting, ideally while it remains slightly damp. Spare it the dryer as well, since overdrying may shrink it.
