Sienna linen and wool mix from Libeco
The Sienna linen wool throw is expressive in a quiet way. Its designer puts it exactly like that. A reddish-brown, sienna-like tone forms the heart of the piece, warm as fired earth. Anthracite and black stripes cross both ends and run once more through the middle. There the two halves meet in a centre seam, which turns a practical join into a line of design. Fringes close the top and bottom edges. Draped over a pale sofa, it gives the room a centre of gravity.

Earth tones from a Flemish weaver
Sienna follows the classic linen and wool construction of Libeco, a recipe the mill knows well. Since 1858 the Belgian house has woven its cloth in Flanders. In 2006 it became a Belgian Royal Warrant Holder. That appointment honours the quality of its fabrics rather than any single collection. All its cloth also carries the Masters of Linen label, a sign of demanding tests and production solely in Europe. Meanwhile the Belgian Linen seal speaks for sustainable management. For Sienna, all this background serves one thing: a warm earth colour, woven with care, that settles into a living room without asking for attention.

Description

Sienna stripes in linen and wool

Linen dominates Sienna at 70 per cent. It gives the throw a dry, matt surface and a natural resistance to soiling. Wool, in turn, brings softness and warmth. The heavy quality of 610 grams per square metre lets it hang in calm folds over a bed or a sofa back. The cushions repeat the stripe from the outer ends of the throw, so the set stays coherent without looking matched. Since the centre seam sits where the middle stripes run, even the larger 280 x 240 cm bedspread keeps its balance. Sienna takes its place within the Libeco throws collection.

Care

Every Sienna piece carries a sewn-in care label, and that label deserves your trust above any general rule. Wool joins the linen in this cloth; hence a cool, gentle wash feels right, whether you look after the throw or the larger bedspread. Optical brighteners would wash the warmth out of the earthy tone, so leave them aside. Afterwards, lay the piece flat to dry and smooth it with your hands. Since over-drying can make it shrink, keep the tumble dryer for other things.
