Wellness Stone Pine Mattress Topper by HEFEL
The Wellness Stone Pine mattress topper from HEFEL spreads virgin wool across the mattress, and genuine Tyrolean stone pine flakes rest within it. Their calming scent reaches the whole length of the bed, so the night begins with a breath of the Alps. A cotton fine sateen finished with aloe vera encloses the filling. It feels gentle on the skin, while the wool beneath keeps the sleeping climate dry. Some call it simply the Zirbe mattress topper.

Stone pine since 2007
HEFEL is an Austrian family business, and it recognised the quiet value of stone pine early. In 2007 the house made its first mattress topper with stone pine flakes, and it has worked with the Alpine wood ever since. Many of those who sew and check each piece represent their family’s second or third generation in the company. They scatter the flakes into the wool fleece by hand, then close it within the sateen. A functional quilting keeps the filling where it belongs, so the scent stays evenly spread. Every topper leaves the workshop only after someone has inspected it on its own.

Description

Wool and stone pine, the filling

Virgin wool forms the body of this topper, with a fill weight of 700 grams per square metre. The wool takes up the moisture of the night and releases it again, therefore the surface stays dry. Because the fibre also cleans itself, airing restores it, and an elaborate wash is rarely necessary. Meanwhile the stone pine flakes add their scent, which lingers across the whole lying surface. Moreover, the topper protects the mattress beneath and gives it a fresh, flat surface. In its September 2014 issue, Öko-Test rated the Wellness Stone Pine all-season duvet from the same range Very Good. The topper sits within the HEFEL mattress topper collection.

Care

Fresh air is usually all this topper asks for, because wool cleans itself. A machine wash is rarely necessary. Should a stain appear, clean only that spot, so the filling keeps its loft and its scent. If a full wash ever becomes unavoidable, choose a gentle cycle at 40 degrees and let the topper dry in the open air. Since the climate under the sheet stays dry, it also suits sensitive skin. Over time, regular airing keeps the bed fresh and the stone pine present.
