Cotton percale bed linen

Perkal bed linen – the coolest way to sleep in cotton

Percale is a plain weave — one thread over, one thread under, in precise alternation. This produces a matte, cool, crisp-fresh surface that feels like a perfectly pressed shirt. At Linen Lounge, all percale bedding comes from Peter Reed in Lancashire, woven from Egyptian Mako cotton.

Three Thread Counts, Three Levels

210tc (Heirloom): The entry point. A robust, breathable weave with noticeable texture. Slightly less smooth than higher thread counts, but cooler and more durable. The most affordable Peter Reed line.
260tc (Millennium): The sweet spot. Noticeably smoother than 210tc while retaining percale’s characteristic coolness. The most popular choice for everyday use.
400tc (Superior): The densest percale in the range. Extremely smooth and soft, yet still with the matte, cool percale character — not glossy like satin. For those who want the smoothness of high thread counts without the sheen.

Why hotels choose percale

Most luxury hotels worldwide use percale bed linen — not satin, not linen. The reason: percale feels cool and fresh the moment you get into bed. That first touch determines the impression, and no other fabric delivers that moment so reliably.

Added to this is its ease of care: percale can be washed at 60°C, is suitable for tumble drying and retains its shape even after hundreds of washes. In a hotel laundry, that matters. At home, it means less effort and a longer lifespan.

Peter Reed supplies international hotels and has held a Royal Warrant as a purveyor to King Charles III since 2024. You will find the same bed linen used in suites and residences in our range.

Who Should Choose Percale?

Hot sleepers: Percale’s open weave structure allows more air circulation than satin. If you tend to overheat at night, percale is the better choice.
Lovers of the crisp hotel feel: International luxury hotels predominantly use percale — the matte, fresh look that invites you to slide in.
Easy-care advocates: Percale wrinkles less than satin and looks good even without ironing. Wash at 40–60 °C, tumble-dryer safe.
All sizes from 135x200 to 220x240. For cooler materials: linen bed linen. Care at Care & Durability. All cotton bed linen.
