All-season comforter – for a better sleeping climate in all seasons
The name all-season comforter says it all. But it’s not that simple. This type of comforter is suitable for average climatic conditions, such as those that prevail in Germany, northern Switzerland and Austria throughout the year. It replaces both a light summer comforter and heavy winter comforters.

In terms of its construction and filling, the all-season comforter is designed for the Central European climate. This is characterized by moderate temperature fluctuations ranging from 0 to 12 degrees Celsius. This includes downward and upward deviations.

Each comforter is assigned to a thermal class or a specific degree of warmth. In this context, the abbreviations TOG (Thermal Overall Grade) and GSM (grams per square meter) are sometimes used. In Germany, however, the thermal classes are usually used to evaluate a year-round comforter. The thermal classes are divided into 5 temperature zones, whereby the all-season comforter usually corresponds to thermal class 3. However, the decisive factor is personal preference. For example, people who get cold easily or who like to sleep with the window open in winter can opt for a class 4 comforter. The highest warmth class 5 is designed for really low temperatures in the bedroom. In this area, so-called four-season comforters are used, a combination of an all-season comforter or winter comforter and a summer comforter, which are linked together.

Above 22 degrees Celsius, a very light summer blanket
20 to 22 degrees Celsius, a transitional blanket
18 to 20 degrees Celsius, the all-season comforter
16 to 18 degrees Celsius, a winter blanket
below 16 degrees Celsius, a four-season comforter
