Leitner Leinen Hirsch – Leaping into modernity

The Leitner Leinen deer features the silhouette of an animal—a deer preparing to leap. The deer is a traditional motif. This symbolic animal embodies a connection to home and a love of dense, natural forests. From the 19th century onwards, deer paintings became fashionable as decorations for the parlor. The deer motif became an expression of a cozy, middle-class lifestyle and ultimately ended up as kitsch. Now Leitner Leinen is freeing this beautiful forest animal from this sad aesthetic situation.

The Leitner linen deer

The “Deer” design works compositionally with the animal silhouette and creates a new and contemporary approach to this symbolic motif of home. The silhouettes are grouped axially symmetrically and in different sizes in a flat arrangement. At first glance, only a single, clearly emphasized silhouette catches the eye, but upon closer inspection, the actual composition becomes apparent. The 100% pure linen fabric is also ideal for linen bedding and creates a subtle painting of shapes and color gradients. The deer is transformed into an attractive motif. The silhouette becomes the basis for a fascinating visual interplay. This gives the traditional motif a modern form of expression.

The graceful form of the animal is once again visible without bias. Ultimately, this break with traditional modes of representation achieves the original intention of Heimatkunst: love for the beautiful animal and the native forest can be felt in a new aesthetic way. Subtle colors and high-quality materials create a modern, comfortable atmosphere. Just as we have come to expect from Leitner Leinen.
