The Heron linen bed sheet from Geniksa does the hardest work in the bed. For that reason it begins with extra strong linen, 205 grams to the square metre. Its fine grey holds a quiet warmth. Beneath a duvet it hardly announces itself, yet the hand notices its weight at once. The cloth breathes, cools on summer nights and keeps warmth close in winter. A small embroidered pine branch marks it as Geniksa, as it marks every piece the house makes.

A grey from the Baltic coast
Geniksa weaves on the Baltic Sea, and its style is spare, almost purist, because the mill trusts linen to speak for itself. Heron shows that restraint well: a fine grey, no pattern, nothing added. The flax comes exclusively from European cultivation, while the house works carbon-neutrally. Heron, like each Geniksa cloth, holds Masters of Linen status, tested to exacting standards and made only in Europe. Its freedom from harmful substances rests on two further seals, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and Eco Line. Rather than chemical treatment, Geniksa relies on mechanical finishing alone. So the Heron sheet arrives soft, yet it keeps the honest texture of the flax.

Heron, extra strong linen in fine grey

At 205 g/m², Heron weighs more than the matching Heron bed linen, since a sheet meets the body every night. Its yarn has a fineness of Nm 26. Long, smooth fibres absorb moisture readily while they repel dirt. Linen also mediates between the seasons, cooling in high summer and warming in deep winter, and it stays fresh for longer. The fine grey brings out the natural structure of the flax, so the surface looks alive rather than flat. With each wash the heavy cloth grows more supple. Heron belongs to the Geniksa bed sheets collection, where it pairs naturally with its own duvet cover and pillowcase.

Care

Heron, being coloured linen, tolerates 60 degrees; white linen would take up to 95. Even so, any fabric lasts longer at a cooler setting. Keep optical brighteners away from Heron, since such detergents strip natural colour and leave the weave looking pale. Give the drum room, so the sheet can move freely. A gentle, short spin leaves Heron a little moisture, and that moisture softens its creases. Anyone who irons should wait until the sheet is faintly damp, then press it on the hot linen setting.
