Sandstone linen tablecloth from Geniksa
The Sandstone linen tablecloth from Geniksa has something cosmopolitan about it. Its flax grows in European fields, while Geniksa weaves it beside the Baltic. The colour, a fine stone grey, settles into almost any dining room without asking for attention. Porcelain looks calm on it. So does rustic stoneware, or the mismatched plates of a long Sunday lunch. A small embroidered pine branch serves as the Geniksa signature. Nothing else announces the cloth, because pure washed linen rarely needs an introduction.

Baltic stone grey
Geniksa works in a plain, almost purist style, out of fondness for nature. Fashion plays no part in it. Pure linen, after all, makes its own case through presence and touch. Sandstone shows this clearly: no pattern, only the quiet grey and a weight of 240 grams per square metre. Each fabric from Geniksa holds the Masters of Linen seal. It certifies strict testing and production entirely within Europe. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and Eco Line also confirm that no harmful substances and no chemical treatments reach the cloth. The weaving itself runs carbon-neutrally, close to the sea.

Description

Sandstone, heavy linen in fine stone grey

At 240 g/m², Sandstone is a heavy cloth. It therefore lies flat across the tabletop and falls at the sides into an elegant drape. The yarn, with a fineness of Nm 26, gives the surface a quiet, even structure. Whether the table seats two or twenty, the fine stone grey supports the tableware instead of competing with it. Linen is also fairly forgiving with stains. Its smooth, dense flax fibre repels dirt and lets it go again in the wash. The finishing is purely mechanical, which keeps the hand pleasant and soft. Matching runners, placemats and napkins complete the setting, and Sandstone takes its place within the Geniksa tablecloths collection.

Care

Sandstone, as coloured linen, goes into the machine at up to 60 degrees, while white linen tolerates 95. Cooler water lengthens its life, as it does for every fabric. Detergents with optical brighteners do lasting harm, because they bleach out the natural tone and make the grey look pale. Load the drum loosely, so the cloth can move, then spin briefly and gently. A little residual moisture keeps creases in check. For a pressed finish, set the iron to its hot linen level and work over the tablecloth while it remains slightly damp.
