There is something cosmopolitan about the Sandstone linen table setting from Geniksa. Its flax comes from European fields and keeps its natural character, while the weaving happens on the Baltic coast. A fine stone grey gives the cloth a versatile calm, at home in a city flat or a country kitchen. Durability forms part of its sustainability, since well-made linen lasts. Baltic craftsmanship, European flax
Geniksa favours a style so plain that it borders on purism, and it does so out of love for nature. Pure linen, after all, makes its case through its look and its unmistakable hand. Sandstone follows this path with a muted grey that leaves the weave in view. The flax for it grows exclusively in Europe; Baltic craftsmanship then turns it into cloth in a CO₂-neutral process. Every Geniksa fabric holds the Masters of Linen label, so its European origin and rigorous testing stand on record. Eco Line and Oeko-Tex add certainty that the material contains no harmful substances.

Description

Sandstone, linen in a fine stone grey

Each Sandstone piece consists of 100 per cent washed linen, weighing 240 g/m² and spun to Nm 26. The fabric therefore feels substantial, so the placemats lie flat and the napkins hold a crisp fold. The smooth, dense flax pushes dirt away rather than taking it in. It also tolerates up to 60 degrees and grows softer from wash to wash. In a fine stone grey, the set suits natural wood, dark tables and pale ceramics with equal ease. Pair it with the Sandstone tablecloth, or explore the further shades of the Geniksa placemats collection.

Care

Sandstone counts among the coloured linens, so a cycle of up to 60 degrees is enough, whereas white linen could take 95. Lower temperatures prolong the life of any textile. Avoid detergents containing optical brighteners, for they bleach natural tones and make linen look faded. A loosely loaded machine gives the fabric room to move. Keep spinning short and soft, because residual moisture prevents deep creases. When ironing, choose the hot linen setting and press the napkins while slightly damp.
