Swimmers Stripe Linen Bed Linen by Libeco
Swimmers Stripe bed linen owes its colours to a memory. The romantic vintage mood of an old restaurant inspired Libeco to weave leather brown and sand-coloured stripes into pure linen twill. Because the stripes run thin and close across the whole surface, they merge into an almost monochrome warmth. Only a second glance reveals them. Swimmers Stripe partners well with the Lys bedspread, yet other accessories suit it just as easily.

To make a stripe disappear into a single tone, a weaver needs fine yarn and an exact hand. Libeco brings both to Swimmers Stripe, alternating leather brown and sand so narrowly that the eye reads one warm colour. The firm started weaving in Belgium in 1858 and has carried the Royal Warrant since 2006. Its linen comes from organic European flax, and GOTS confirms both ecological and social standards along the way. Masters of Linen adds another layer of assurance through strict tests and European production only. Then Eco Line and Oeko-Tex attest the absence of harmful substances, so the fabric that touches your skin stays clean.

Swimmers Stripe, linen twill in brown

Swimmers Stripe has a weight of 200 grams per square metre, robust pure linen in twill. The diagonal binding gives the surface a discreet sheen. In winter linen keeps you warm, while in summer it cools, and throughout the year it regulates moisture for a dry night. Libeco finishes the washed cloth purely mechanically, therefore it feels soft and creases less, yet stays true to its nature. Over time it grows suppler still. The near-plain effect also makes it easy to pair with Heritage or Madison. You will find it in the Libeco bed linen collection, among the quieter stripes.

Care

Swimmers Stripe washes at up to 60 degrees, while white linen would tolerate 95. Nonetheless, a cooler programme gives the brown tones a longer life. Optical brighteners have to stay out, since they bleach natural colours and make the fabric fade. Give the cloth space by loading the machine lightly. Later, a gentle and short spin leaves the residual moisture that keeps creases at bay. Press it hot, if you like, while still damp. Do without the tumble dryer, because too much drying can shrink linen.
