Caroline Linen Tablecloth by Geniksa
The Caroline linen tablecloth from Geniksa gives grey a presence of its own. People tend to call the colour neutral. Here, in a fine and silvery light grey, it becomes something closer to an event in the dining room. The cut stays classic, and the cloth looks composed even when no plate sits on it yet. A breath of Scandinavian calm comes with it. Underneath lies 100 per cent washed linen, nothing more and nothing less.

Silver light from the Baltic
Geniksa’s handwriting is spare, almost puristic, since the house would rather follow nature than decoration. Caroline makes that plain: a classic cut, a light grey, and the linen itself. Nothing more seems necessary, because pure linen persuades through its look and its touch alone. The flax grows in European fields. Geniksa then weaves it on the Baltic Sea, carbon-neutrally. Every fabric from the house has earned the Masters of Linen label, which guarantees close inspection and production confined to Europe. Two further marks complete the picture. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and Eco Line confirm that Caroline carries no harmful substances and has seen no chemical treatment.

Description

Caroline, light grey linen for porcelain and glass

In its silvery light grey, Caroline flatters porcelain and glass alike. White china looks crisper on it, and glassware catches more of the light. The cloth weighs 240 g/m², heavy enough to lie calmly on the table and fall in elegant folds at the sides. Its Nm 26 yarn gives the weave an even surface. Thanks to the smooth, dense flax fibre, dirt struggles to settle, and the tablecloth also washes at up to 60 degrees. Purely mechanical finishing preserves a pleasant, natural hand. Runners in the same shade, together with placemats and napkins, set the scene. Caroline is part of the Geniksa tablecloths collection.

Care

Caroline, being coloured linen, washes at a maximum of 60 degrees, whereas white linen can reach 95. Even so, less heat means a longer life, for linen as for any other material. Detergents with optical brighteners should stay in the cupboard, since they bleach out natural tones and make the cloth paler. A loosely filled drum suits linen better than a full one, because the fabric needs room to move. Spin with moderation and keep it short. Residual moisture limits creasing. Ironing, if you wish, belongs on the hot linen setting, ideally before the tablecloth has fully dried.
