Heron linen tablecloths from Geniksa
Heron linen placemats from Geniksa belong to the classic table settings that have become the mill’s signature. Geniksa dyes the yarn a gentle grey. That brings out the typical texture of linen, so no two pieces look quite alike. A warm dark grey suits festive tables and ordinary weekdays equally. There is a touch of the exotic in it, yet the manner stays Nordic and reserved.

Restraint defines the way Geniksa works. Its nearly purist style springs from a love of nature, for pure linen asserts itself through visual presence and a feel that one recognises at once. Heron puts this into a grey that has depth without heaviness. On the Baltic coast, the mill weaves flax from European cultivation, CO₂-neutrally and with purely mechanical finishing. Each fabric there carries the Masters of Linen label, testimony to strict testing and to manufacture only within Europe. Eco Line and Oeko-Tex, meanwhile, attest that the linen holds no harmful substances.

Description

Heron, linen placemats in warm dark grey

Heron starts from grey-dyed yarn, spun to Nm 26 and woven into 100 per cent washed linen that weighs 240 g/m². Its napkins and placemats lie steadily and fold without fuss. That yarn gives the surface its lively texture, while the dense flax fibre keeps dirt at bay. Softness then arrives gradually, wash by wash. In warm dark grey, the set gives character to a festive table and an everyday one alike. It also forms a calm ground for coloured tableware. It pairs with the Heron tablecloth, and the Geniksa placemats collection holds its siblings in other shades.

Care

As a coloured linen, Heron tolerates up to 60 degrees, while white linen manages 95. As with every material, though, a cooler wash prolongs its life. Detergents with optical brighteners do lasting harm, since they bleach the natural colour and leave the dark grey pale. Fill the drum generously but never fully. Spin softly and not for long, so residual moisture can keep creases shallow. If you like a pressed napkin, iron it damp on the hot linen setting.
