Caroline linen bedspread from Geniksa
The Caroline linen bedspread from Geniksa holds a light grey that turns silver where the light falls. The silvery shimmer comes from the woven structure of the flax, not from any precious metal. Quilting adds a soft surface relief, and at 380 grams per square metre the linen shows visible fullness. Its worth reveals itself to the hand as much as to the eye. On a bed it lies as an elegant cover, while on a sofa it becomes a quiet statement.

Light grey, designed in three countries
Geniksa conceived its quilted spreads in collaboration with experts and designers from Lithuania, Germany and Great Britain. Caroline follows the mill’s spare, almost puristic line, which comes from a love of nature. The spread also serves as a lazy duvet cover. That means no wrestling with a cover on washing day: Caroline goes straight into the machine and may follow into the dryer. Its flax stems from European cultivation; the Baltic weaving that follows leaves no carbon footprint. Caroline earns Masters of Linen standing, and Oeko-Tex together with Eco Line attests to a cloth without harmful substances.

Description

Caroline, a silver shimmer in quilted linen

Caroline weighs 380 g/m², and that weight gives the light grey a visible depth. The yarn measures Nm 26. Because Geniksa finishes the washed linen purely mechanically, the surface stays soft and kind to the skin, and it creases less. The quilting catches the light differently with every fold, so the shimmer seems to move. Linen also evens out temperature, cooling in summer and warming in winter. For underneath, the fine Geniksa linen sheets make a natural partner. Caroline sits within the Geniksa bedspreads collection.

Care

Caroline accepts 60 degrees in the machine, just as any coloured linen would, and the dryer afterwards. A cooler programme, however, always preserves linen for longer. Steer clear of optical brighteners: they rob natural tones of their depth and would dull the silver grey. Leave the drum filled generously with air rather than fabric, so the spread can turn. Spin gently and not for long, since linen creases less with some residual moisture. Iron, if you wish, on the hot linen setting while Caroline is still damp.
