Scotia linen bedspread from Geniksa
The Scotia linen bedspread from Geniksa is the one you reach for when storm and snow press against the window. Beneath its quilting it stays wonderfully warm. Dyed yarn in a rather dark grey gives the surface its texture, and the quilted checks complete the impression of a heavy winter blanket. On warm days, however, Scotia moves to the sofa and looks entirely at home there. Each piece wears a small embroidered pine branch.

A tartan for long winters
With designers and specialists from Great Britain, Lithuania and Germany, Geniksa created its quilted spreads, and Scotia shows how calm a tartan can be. The house keeps a spare, almost puristic style, since pure linen convinces through presence and touch. Its second life begins at night: as a lazy duvet cover, Scotia never needs a cover changed, because it simply goes into the washing machine and on into the dryer. European cultivation supplies the flax. On the Baltic Sea the looms then run carbon-neutrally. Scotia carries the Masters of Linen mark, while Oeko-Tex and Eco Line confirm it holds no harmful substances.

Description

Scotia, dark grey checks in quilted linen

At 380 g/m², Scotia drapes heavily and elegantly from the bed. The checks belong to the weave, so the understated tartan looks the same on both sides. Its yarn count is Nm 26, and Geniksa finishes the washed linen mechanically, never with chemicals. As a result, the spread feels supple despite its weight. Linen also balances warmth through the seasons, so Scotia protects the bed and dresses the sofa all year. Scotia joins the Geniksa bedspreads collection, where it brings a tartan among the plain colours.

Care

A 60 degree programme suits Scotia, as it suits all coloured linen, and the dryer may follow. A gentler temperature still lengthens the life of the spread. Optical brighteners do lasting damage, because they bleach the natural colours and fade the grey checks. Load the machine loosely, which leaves the heavy linen room to turn. Spin moderately and only briefly, so enough residual moisture remains against creasing. Ironing, when wanted, works on the hot linen setting with the tartan slightly damp.
