Simplicity at Geniksa is a conviction rather than a trend. The mill traces its almost purist style to a love of nature: pure linen, it holds, shows its worth through presence and touch alone. With Celeste, that restraint meets colour, yet the colour never crowds the cloth. European flax, woven on the Baltic coast, carries the blue with a soft depth. Description

Celeste, pastel blue linen at the table

Celeste is 100 per cent washed linen with a weight of 240 g/m² and a yarn count of Nm 26. Its substance is tangible, so the napkins fold cleanly and keep their shape on the plate. The placemats, in turn, lie flat and protect the wood beneath. Thanks to the dense flax fibre, dirt does not settle easily, while washing at up to 60 degrees keeps things simple. The cool pastel blue pairs with white porcelain, stoneware or clear glass alike. Celeste also matches the Celeste tablecloth, and it sits among the other colours of the Geniksa placemats collection.

Care

Celeste belongs to coloured linen, which takes up to 60 degrees, whereas white linen may go to 95. Washing cooler, however, keeps the pastel fresh for longer. Choose detergents free of optical brighteners, because they leach the natural colour and leave the blue looking pale. Leave some space in the drum rather than packing it. Spin gently and briefly, so the light blue linen napkins keep some moisture and crease less. For ironing, the hot linen setting suits them best while they are still a little damp.
