The Construction Ginger linen-wool rug from Libeco brings warmth into a room in two measures. A field of ginger, spiced and glowing, meets a field of natural at a seam drawn straight through the middle. Neither colour dominates. Together they form a patchwork design of real composure, generous enough to anchor a living room. Underfoot, the wool feels soft, while the flax keeps the surface pleasantly cool.

Two Jasper fabrics, one seam
In the Libeco workshops the Construction rugs grow out of Jasper, a heavy cloth first conceived in forest colours. For this piece the weavers pair Jasper in ginger with Jasper in natural and sew the two together at the centre. The designer wanted the collection robust and strong, though never at the expense of beauty. A linen border and fringes then complete it as details of craft. Behind the work stands a Flemish house whose looms date back to 1858, with a Royal Warrant since 2006. Its cloth carries the Masters of Linen mark, a European guarantee backed by strict testing. It also leaves the mill CO₂-neutrally.

Description

Ginger and natural in a linen-wool weave

Construction Ginger is woven from a washed mixture, linen taking 55 per cent and wool 45, in a heavy quality of 1000 g/m². The proportion matters. Flax lends the rug toughness and a natural resistance to soiling, whereas wool contributes volume and insulation. As a result it copes with busy rooms and still feels gentle to bare feet. The large format, 270 x 300 cm, works as a central element in generous spaces. Alternatively, the linen-wool runner of 80 x 270 cm suits hallways, entrances or a dining area. You will find both within the Libeco rugs collection.

Care

Ginger keeps its warmth with very simple care. Lift the rug now and then, shake it out, and let it air beside an open window. Because linen repels much everyday dirt, careful spot cleaning usually suffices for the odd mark; choose a detergent without optical brighteners for it. In addition, the wool in the weave favours a gentle hand. Should the carpet ever need more, follow its care label rather than guesswork. An underlay, finally, keeps it flat and in place.
