Construction rug Faded Black linen-wool mix from Libeco
The Construction Faded Black rug from Libeco divides the floor into two calm fields. On one side lies natural, on the other a washed-out black, and a single seam runs between them. The effect recalls architecture more than decoration. Its designer calls the collection robust, strong and beautiful, and that sober trio describes it well. Bare feet notice the difference too, because wool warms where linen cools.

Cut, combined and sewn in Belgium
Construction starts where another Libeco design leaves off. The weavers take the heavy fabric of the Jasper collection, combine panels of different colour and stitch them together down the middle. In this version natural meets faded black. Both halves share one cloth, so the join reads as intention rather than compromise. The house has practised its craft in Belgium since 1858; since 2006 it has done so with a Royal Warrant from the Belgian court. Masters of Linen marks the result as European-made and rigorously tested. Production remains CO₂-neutral throughout.

Description

A faded black rug in linen and wool

Beneath the graphic surface lies a sturdy washed blend at 1000 g/m², with linen at 55 per cent and wool at 45. Libeco weaves it as a plain weave with wool from yarn of Nm 58. Linen supplies strength and keeps the rug hard-wearing, whereas wool adds a cushion of warm air. Moreover, the mix resists dirt and suits allergy sufferers. A linen border and fringes frame the two fields of natural and faded black. In the large format the rug defines a seating area; as a runner it lengthens a hallway. Construction belongs to the Libeco rugs collection together with its Ginger and Charcoal siblings.

Care

Construction needs little more than an occasional outing. Carry the rug outdoors from time to time, give it a firm shake, and let it air. Its linen share tends to shrug off dirt, so a spot of careful cleaning usually deals with small marks. Since wool makes up a large part of the blend, gentleness matters here too. However, for any deeper cleaning the care label on the rug remains the authority, and it deserves a careful read beforehand. A rug underlay, meanwhile, keeps it flat and steady.
