Pre-washed — why it's more than just marketing

Most linen bedding feels stiff when new. That’s not a defect — it’s linen. The fibre normally needs 5 to 10 washes to develop its final character. Libeco solves this with stonewashing, Vieböck deliberately leaves it natural.

Geniksa takes a third path: every fabric is washed after weaving — not with stones, simply washed. The result sits between Vieböck’s firm start and Libeco’s stonewashed softness: soft enough for the first night, textured enough to still feel like linen. The fabric has body without scratching. It drapes without fluttering.

And: no shrinkage. What you unpack is the size that stays.

The collections — Arctica and Classic

Arctica: Geniksa’s core collection. Natural tones, subtle stripes, classic plain weave. The Arctica bedding is what Geniksa stands for: Nordic, pared-back, timeless. Available as duvet cover, pillowcase and as a set.

Plain classics: White, Natural, Sand, Light Grey — the essential palette for bedrooms where calm is the luxury. No pattern, no stripes, just linen and colour.

Geniksa bedding is available in standard sizes: 135x200 to 220x240. The Arctica collection also offers pillowcases in 40x80 and 80x80 cm.

Combinations and the Geniksa system

Geniksa thinks in sets: bedding, fitted sheets and bedspreads made from the same material, in the same colour palette. All pre-washed, all 100% linen, all perfectly coordinated. A Geniksa bed is seamless — no mixed materials, no break in hand feel.

Add a pillow from Hefel for the filling and the matching duvet — Geniksa’s linen cover regulates moisture, Hefel’s filling provides the warmth.

Care

Wash at 40 °C. No fabric softener. Air dry. Gets softer with every wash — but the pre-washing process means the difference between wash 1 and wash 50 is subtler than with unwashed linen. Ironing optional. Tips at Care & Durability.
