Continuous or Split — the Kingsize Decision

The 180 cm bed comes in two configurations, and each requires a different topper:
Continuous mattress (180x200): One mattress topper 180x200 lies as a single surface over the entire mattress. Both sleep on the same material. The advantage: no ridge in the middle, continuous sleeping surface. The challenge: the material must work for both sleep types. The Cool variant with PCM is the best choice here — it actively balances temperature differences.
Split mattresses (2x 90x200): Two separate mattress toppers 90x200 enable individual sleep climate per side. TENCEL on the left, wool on the right — or any other combination. The gap is bridged by a continuous linen fitted sheet in 180x200.
For those sleeping on a 140 cm double bed, the matching size is the mattress topper 140x200.

The Right Material for Kingsize

On 180 cm width, the material choice is even more important than on a single bed — more body surface means more moisture and more heat that needs to be regulated:
Cool (TENCEL + PCM): The recommendation for couples on a continuous mattress. The Phase Change Material distributes warmth across the entire surface — excess heat is stored and released to cooler zones.
TENCEL: For couples who both sleep warm. Maximum cooling and moisture removal. Combined with a Hefel summer duvet and linen bed linen for maximum cooling.
Wool: For couples who both sleep cold. Insulates the large surface from below. With a down duvet, the warmest system.
Cotton: The neutral compromise. Year-round, neither too cool nor too warm.

In the Sleep System, Attachment and Care

On a kingsize bed, the Hefel sleep system unfolds its full effect: mattress topper 180x200 as foundation → linen fitted sheet in 180x200 → duvet as a shared 220x240 or separate duvets → linen duvet cover → pillow with linen pillowcase. Each layer works with the next.
Elastic corner straps on all four corners hold the topper securely. On a continuous 180 cm mattress, the topper lies invisibly under the fitted sheet.
Care: Washable at 60 °C (depending on fill, check label). For kingsize toppers, check the drum capacity of your washing machine — a 180x200 topper requires a machine with at least 8 kg capacity.
